I must have really, really odd tastes in games compared to most here. I can’t remember the last time an update contained a game I own, yet two of my most recent additions, Onward to Venus and Mythotopia are nowhere to be seen.

I appreciate the effort that is going into increasing the size of the database and I’m not complaining at all, but I do feel a little out of place…

Zombie State is the only one I currently own. Odd that it says Game Salite is the publisher because they didn’t publish the edition I bought back in 2010. Is this an error or has Game Salute become involved with this game as well?

@Dr. Wildcat – I totally about Trajan. Easily the best game I played this year even if it technically was released in Europe last year. Another one is Village. If you like worker placement games give this one a shot.

Quite a year. There were a number of really good expansions as well. Of them Dixit Journey and the Romulan Expansion for Star Trek: Fleet Captains come immediately to mind.

@ Kaleb – Diplomacy is a game you cannot play with immature people, and I don’t say that to be mean, just prudent. I played it once in my late teens and swore off it as people got really, really upset. Now though that I’m in my forties I think my current gaming friends, myself included, could handle it. It’s a great game for the right crowd, but if I’m going to play an older game that takes all day I’d much rather play Advanced Civilization.

As for adding games they do prioritize newer games usually. I think there are some games I submitted almost a year ago that still haven’t been added, but it’s been almost a year so I could be mistaken. 🙂

Nice to see Spartacus on the list. I haven’t had a chance to play the game yet but I do own it. Come to think of it, it has shades of Diplomacy in it, so I should probably be careful who I play it with. 😛

Anyone who even has a passing interest in civilization games should try and play the original Civilization by Avalon Hill. It is the game that inspired Sid Meier to make a computer game of the same name. I do find it funny that the new FFG game is based on a computer game that is based on a board game. Talk about coming full circle. The thing is, as great as all the games that have come after it, I still think the original is the best of the bunch. The only civ game that is better is Avalon Hill’s sequel, Advanced Civilization, which, I do believe, is possibly the best game ever made. Ever. 🙂

Seven items for me, but only three games. Is it wrong of me, when figuring out how big my collection is, to count Runebound and its 29 expansions as one game? 😛

Tzolk’in, Talisman: The City and Empires of the Void are all ones I’ll be looking at too.

Automobile – Very interesting and tight game by Martin Wallace. Not for the beginner by any means, but anyone not afraid of thinking and tough decisions will probably love this one.

Cold War – Fun bluffing card game for two with a Cold War theme, nicely done art work and while the game isn’t the best two player game out there, if the era interests you at all it deserves a look.

Carson City – One of my favourite worker placement games. Not only that, it also has roll selection, area control, tile placement, even player intimidation if you want it, and a Wild West theme that works. A game that deserves much more attention.

Queen’s Gambit – A licensed game that is WAY better than the source material. Considering the movie in question that isn’t necessarily that big of a compliment, but the game really is a lot of fun. Interesting action selection though hand management, four different areas where action is taking place but a need to pick and choose where to concentrate one’s resources and a pool of custom dice to add a little chaos all add up to one heck of a good time for two lucky gamers. Tons of plastic minis and a 3D board representing a palace don’t hurt either. I never win this game but I’m always willing to play.

Money! – Nice little set collection card game that, while not complicated, has enough going for it to keep just about anyone engaged.

Ra – Classic auction game that while it has tons of luck is still usually won by the more skilled player.

Of the games I don’t own Manhattan Project and Rolling Freight both have me wanting to play them.

Five from my collection as well, plus at least four more that I want. As mentioned earlier Hunter & Gatherers is an older game, but I’ve never understood the reason for splitting listings up like this anyway. 🙂
