Honestly this is another reason why this game is so easy. At least it is fixed in the expansion.

We use this variant to speed up a game and increase its difficulty. When an investigator is devoured, that player doesn’t get a replacement.

Legendary’s difficulty increases with each player, making 4 & 5 player games virtually un-winnable (even against the Red Skull). I find that this game’s sweet spot is 3 players.

We do this for a quicker game; first player to hit either 10 story or 10 destiny and returns to Baghdad wins. This really helps when you are playing with a full complement of players.
