How have games been helping you, your family and friends?

Posted by Jim {Power Gamer} | 10-Apr-20 | 12 comments

Though times are rough, board games have been a great way for us to stay connected both at home and online, with family and friends.

With the family we’ve played games like Ticket to Ride and Patchwork.

With our gaming group we’ve stuck with meeting online via Tabletopia and gotten in some more rounds of Viticulture: Tuscany.

How have games helped you through these crazy times? What games have you enjoyed the most?

Really looking forward to gifting a whole slew of board and card games for Christmas this year. That new Marvel game BG is highlighting looks great too!

We’ve picked up Agricola, which has been fun to increase our engine building skills.

With social distancing continuing I continue playing a lot of games on Board Game Arena. Stone Age, Takenoko, Tokaido, Potion Explosion, Saboteur, Can’t Stop and Jaipur have each been played, must multiple times. At home I have been playing Azul, Formula D and Agricola Family Edition.

Been making a lot of custom cards and modules for Marvel Champions and play testing them, that’s been a lot of fun.

It is has been a trying time to say the least. My children and grad-school chew up most of my time these days. The wife and I have been able to get a few games in.

I’ve really been able to go through my back log, which is nice. Been playing a ton of Marvel LCG via Zoom, which works very well since it’s an LCG and the remote players can just keep the schemes in play at their homes and reference the controller’s deck for consistency on threat and damage, Doomtown: Reloaded has been an absolute blessing to “discover” and shame on me for leaving it sealed for so long. We’ve been playing Catan, Carcassonne, My Little Pony CCG, Ticket to Ride, Marvel Superhero Squad, Machi Koro, Get off my land, Pocket Ops and even Monopoly on occasion with the kids. If there’s been a silver lining, it’s playing all these games with the kids when the 100 other things that fill daily life have been put on hold.

that’s a good question. Gaming helps me to get rid of stress and kill time. But I always use vpn from https://veepn.com/ to protect my privacy while playing. Online security is a serious issue today.

I have been playing lots of Scrabble on Word Chums and Jaipur on Board Game Arena. And some Agricola Family Adition in person with my wife. Online play has been a godsend.

Games have helped my family and I as we are stuck at home. We have rediscovered some games that had been neglected. And I have discovered some fun solo variants for games I already own.

I have spent my time playing boardgames to keep myself occupied. I live alone, and away from the rest of my family, so I couldn`t be with them this Easter. My games keep me company.
