The holidays are here, there’s only a few short days till Christmas, and Pax Unplugged just wrapped up on the East Coast. What games are you looking to give or receive this holiday? What new games would you love to see on the pages of Boardgaming.com? Have you found any great deals in big box brick and mortal retail, your local game store, or your favorite online retailer?
Share your stories and maybe clue in a new gamer to something wonderful to play this holiday season!
I did a secret santa gift exchange with a bunch of Overpower players. Now a new year with a new tournament schedule.
@Elida I couldn’t agree more and I’m glad to hear your friend was so enthused about getting it! I’m looking forward to giving it to my sister!
Now I need to start doing some new reviews of games for BG.com! 🙂
Perfect @Green Metal Box! I got some great words from my friend, who got her gift. She was super happy, also a gamer with a heart for thread and needle. I think it will be perfect for your sister. In these trying times with the pandemic people need a pick me up to feel things will get better soon.
@Elida,
Thanks, I think I found it! https://sawdustbear.itch.io/a-mending
Her bday is in March, so I think I can make that work!
Glad to hear you got a game!!
@Green Metal, it was a solo game that funded at Kickstarter, you may be able to check out their page and buy a game. Sorry, didn`t see the request before now, but maybe birthday gift?
Also; I got a game after all!! I got Wok Star from my cousins and their families!
@Elida
A Mending sounds neat, where can I find that, my sister would be into that!
Also, what game did you get for your solo adventure?
Was a big board gaming day for my family! The kids got:
Gargoyles
Marvel Unlimited
Hero Quest
Frosty The Snowman (my 5 yo)
King of Tokyo + Expansions
Looking forward to cracking these open and playing tomorrow!!
Wishing everyone here a Merry Christmas and a Happy Holiday!
Absolutely shocked to see News activity on this site!! I was wondering if the site was going to make it into the new year. This article suggests that it will!
I do not give or receive games as gifts for Christmas. Not sure why but I’ve always kept Christmas separate from my gaming hobby. If I had to guess, it’s probably because I spend a lot of time around non-gamers this time of year.
Black Friday has always been a big day for me to purchase games. Unfortunately, the deals haven’t been great the last few years and this year I only picked up a few small expansions for Arcadia Quest and the Urban Structures expansion for Flash Point: Fire Rescue. Nothing too exciting. I am eagerly awaiting the release of the Rise of Ix expansion for Dune: Imperium and the Dark of Mirkwood scenario pack for Lord of the Rings, LCG.
There are definitely a few games I would like to see on the site. Agree with RevBob on Dune: Imperium. Just recently started a campaign of Roll Player Adventures. I also still play a lot of Lord of the Rings LCG. Right now the site has up to the deluxe box of the fourth cycle. Would like to see more expansions of LotR. Other than that I know I requested several other games but for the life of me can’t remember what they were right now.
Wishing you and your family a MERRY CHRISTMAS and continued happy gaming!!
Pleasant surprise to see some activity on here. Let’s keep the conversations going!
There’s a few new games on our table it would be good to see in the listings:
Lost Ruins of Arnak
Dune Imperium
That Time You Killed Me
Whistle Mountain
Cubitos
Endangered
Red Cathedral
Chronicles of Crime – Time Trilogy
Glen More II
Alas, I may not be getting any game gifts this year, but here`s hoping! I am giving a friend the gift of A Mending, a game where you sew yourself a beautiful map to use as a scarf afterwards.
I did buy myself a game for New Year`s Eve, as I spend it playing solo games. So a little gift for myself.
