@Kaleb – congratulations! Great idea for your rehearsal dinner! And a pretty unique “theme” for a wedding!
We received Tortuga this past week and played that over the weekend. It was alright as a two-player game, though not one I’ll play often. I’m hoping its better with 3 or 4 players.
Just got back from bridesmaidery at The Disney Destination Wedding that Killed All Gen-Con Plans
Not to be confused with @Kaleb’s wedding (Congratulations!) as this was 5 days with the most ungamery people on the planet and his sounded like a hoot.
So no caress of cardboard for almost a week and a general ‘GEN-KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNN!’ with camera spirals at the best laid plans of mice and men doing the whole aft gang agley routine.
(P.S. BUT if anyone is going Gennyside and wants to nab me some promo loot feel free to contact me via my B-other account. 😉 I’ll happily send you a gift box of lets say … scratch batter cookies in return 🙂 )
I got married this weekend! During my rehearsal dinner we had lots of games played including Splendor, Bang!, Pandemic, Seafarers of Catan, Hanabi, Tsuro, and Magical Labyrinth. Our vows and toasts referenced games, too. Every table was named after a board game. Great weekend!
We started a new game group this weekend with several non-gamers and a couple periodic gamers. Everyone had fun! Of course, we hit a gateway standard, Dixit, which we had to play in 4 teams of 2 – all couples. Then we brought out Avalon since this group is generally vocal and fun-loving, just not used to games. Again, we had another great time. In 2 weeks we’ll go again.
Nice weekend of gaming including Pyramix – a new quick favourite, not yet on this site; an old fave, 7 Wonders; Carcassonne; and Dominion with variations. One highlight of the weekend was being introduced to City of Iron – great and relatively quick and easy to get in to – helped that at the end of round 2 where we had to finish (time constraints), I was (accidentally) winning :D. I’m seeing and hearing so much of this Ancient Terrible Things, I think I’m gonna add it to my wish list! 🙂
Received a delivery of three games this week, so got to pull out City of Iron for a learn and play session on Sunday. Loved it, and can’t wait to give it another go now that we know what we’re doing!
Also got to finally play Avalon at Mega Games on Friday night. While not everyone in our group loves these games (Resistance family), there are a few of us who can’t seem to get enough!
I’ve been playing Say Bye to the Villains (love it), Seventh Hero, Blueprints, Cosmic Encounter, Ancient Terrible Things, Sushi Go, Star Realms (excellent), One Night Ultimate Werewolf, and Cheaty Mages with the family. I hope to get in a game of Eldritch Horror tomorrow.
I played the Gold Beach map from the brand new Memoir 44 expansion, D-Day Landings. I played solo, as my friend who plays won’t be here until next weekend. I won as Allies (and lost as Germans, but my main focus was on the Allies). These maps are big, and can be played as single maps, double map, triple map, or as the whole Operation Overlord six map extravaganza! I also played D&D Lords of Waterdeep with my wife and lost, and we played Settlers Traders & Barbarians and I lost that game too!
Played Agricola for the first time. Fun game all in all. I’ve written a review if anyone was interested to read. Lords of Waterdeep was on for the second, though sadly I had to depart prior to finishing.
Just picked up King of Tokyo: Power Up and Splendor this week and was itching to get them both out and play this weekend but no one is around. I did force my daughter to try Splendor with me but she wasn’t a huge fan, I liked it but want to play with 4.
Note to self: Find more friends who play board games.

I got to play Alien Frontiers, Wits and Wagers Family Edition, Escape, President, Liars Dice all in all a pretty decent weekend.

We have been playing “shadows of malice” Local indianapolis game. Debuting at gencon2014. Be sure to check it out
Played Mythic Battles and then 3 player Kemet and 3 player Eminent Domain: Escalation (played twice).
Wine themed weekend with both Vinhos and Viticulture hitting the table.
Played The Manhattan Project (which I am liking more and more) and Railway Rivals, an old game from 1984.

Stone Age and Legend Of Drizzt will be set on the table.
I’m planning also to teach some friends Pathfinder adventure card game.
I’m planning to play Takenoko, Jamaica and Abandon Ship!! 🙂
3 cool family games to play! 😉
In the midst of moving, so many games are packed away, but hoping to get some Pandemic and Fortune & Glory. Maybe a game of A Touch of Evil.
