Light gaming for me this weekend! Just in: Mascarade and Ooga-Booga. But games I am expecting to be delivered are Seasons and SotM: Vengeance.

I learned this game by watching review and gameplay videos online. I referenced the instructions, only during the first run of the game. I taught it to my friend and reinforced my own understanding, while playing through a game, in all but 20 minutes. It’s so easy to learn yet so in depth for the overall gameplay. I’m not too impressed with the game components though. The cardboard and cards are of high quality. But the map tiles are identical on both sides. I would have hoped the tiles would be different on each side for additional variety of play. Also, not only do the dice feel weird, but one in the set I played had a misshapen die. It didn’t really affect gameplay. But thank goodness each die is a standard d6. If they were custom, I would be pretty upset I’d need a replacement right off the bat.

I’m really curious about how this game plays with the expansions included. I’m not a fan of the tv series or the movie, and without that fandom, the game is just so-so for me. But if I were to judge it by theme and aesthetics? I would give it a 10/10 score. The game components are beautiful and there’s no mistaking what the theme is. Everything looks great. If you’re a fan, this is a no-brainer. You must add it to your collection. If you’re not a fan…. Still a no-brainer. You don’t need this taking up valuable space on your games shelf.

So far, so good…. I just got this game a few days ago and I’ve been playing 2 players by myself. I’m just play testing for now, so I can introduce it to my gaming group. It’s so easy to learn and the added dice rolling is a very nice touch. I love everything about it and my only regret is that I discovered this game long after the Kickstarter it came from. I would love to have a set of deluxe tokens to go with this beautiful game.

My brother brought this to a recent game night. Neither of us had any experience with Agricola, though worker placements are not new to us. It was quick and easy to learn. I LOVE the animeeples! It’s a great intro to Agricola, but I prefer more interactive worker placements. I won’t knock this one though. It’s a fun and fast.
