There’s not much to dislike about Hive: simple rules, cool abilities for the insects, great bakelite pieces, bugs…can’t get much better than that. Lots of strategy in there with great replayability.

I remember playing playing for hours on end when I was younger and it even gets pulled out every once in a while now. Perfect game for a simple evening in with the family.

The rules are some of the simplest that you could have. The cards are the rules themselves and those rules change at the drop of a hat. This is in no way a brainburner but it is good as a filler between meatier games.

Blokus is a great game for almost any group. It’s very easy to teach to a new player and can be taught in just a few minutes. There are lots of hidden complexity to Blokus that don’t become apparent until you play it a few times. If you know someone who likes Tetris, you have to introduce them to this game.

Fun to play over and over again due to the amount of different cards included. Great solo play also.
