I think this site’s goal is have knowledge about great games, and there’s a wealth of great games that came out before BG went online. New games are definitely what generate buzz and keep new users coming in, but old games enrich the gamers’ gaming experience. Plus I think you can work with the ebb and flow of game releases, if a slew of new games are coming out, do a 90/10 update in favor of new games. If it’s a slow cycle, blast out a slew of old games to bulk up the site’s resources.
As much as i like seeing the old games added, it makes sense to focus on new games and then only add a few old games at a time. Since the new games will eventualy become old games
I think I actually played Tigris and Euphrates once upon a time…
The Escape: Curse of the Temple game by Queen Games is actually a fun game. Normally this type of game doesn’t appeal to me, but I played the prototype at BGGcon last year and enjoyed it a lot. The game, at that time, had a 10 minute long soundtrack and for our group did not cause the chaos I have come to expect from most simultaneous action games.
I am looking forward to Crude being reprinted. The original 1974 version was selling recently for north of $500 used. It was so sought after there was once a pirated version (they never got permission from or paid the designer) by Hexagames called McMulti that was poor quality and had misprints. Now a new version is coming out with the blessing of the designer James St. Laurent, who sadly passed away last month. The new version was originally scheduled to be out early in 2012 but several delays have pushed the expected date to the forth quarter.
Wow, this is a lot of games I’m going to need to hit up the FLGS to check out. I’m way behind!
I’m looking to add:
* SotM: Infernal Relics (exp)
Want to take a closer look at:
* Star Trek DBG: The Original Series (exp)
* Star Wars: The Card Game
Very nice to see such a large number of games added to the database, just nothing I’ve got right now.
Why no Nature of the Beast? They have an expansion for the card game coming out soon.
Some interesting stuff, but probably nothing I want to add to the shelf right now;)
There’s a lot of good games here. It’s interesting to see the trends in theme (Zombies, SciFi, and fantasy are a given, but several Indiana Jones type games, and westerns seem to be coming back).
Looks like some cool games are coming out.
No games for my collection, but more new, interesting titles… 🙂
Definitey some nice additions. I’m glad to see the Sentinels of the Multiverse expansions added. I’m also happy to see Zpocalypse. It seems to have been overshadowed somewhat by Zombicide. I demoed it at Gen Con and had a great time playing it. I’m really looking forward to my copy, hopefully in the next few months…
