Picked up Call of Cthulhu The Card Game this weekend and won SmallWorld Underground in a FLGS raffle on Friday. The family could not have been less interested. Tried to get out to FLGS to check them out and the wife said we need to do things together. She watched TV, the boy played video games and the baby poked me in the eye. I’m one sad panda. 🙁

I’ve owned Relic for over a month now and haven’t found an interested party to play with! I took it to a couple of FLGS this weekend and was told by a few gamers the Talisman-like chance to it was unappealing. Talisman has sold so many copies. I know there was interest in Relic. They didn’t make it just for me, right?

Cthulu Wars looks like the most epic thing I have seen in a long time. Those minis are just gargantuan! I wish I would’ve known about it sooner and could’ve afforded a game reward. Those minis!

I picked this up last week but haven’t had a chance to play it yet. I purchased solely on the artwork (it’s great isn’t it?). Anyhow, as I’m going through the rulebook, it is definitely not a deck builder. The gameplay is a series of three stages. In the first stage you bid on the performers (one of each type). Everyone gets the chance to outbid you as a performer is selected. This goes on until each player has a full band. The performers have stats that come into play as their potential is rated as a result of their stats and awards are given out. In the next stage you are bidding on venues and opportunities. At the end of that stage awards are given out and finally in the third stage more of the same. The winner is whoever has the most decibels (awards) at the end of the third round. The resources used in the bidding process are finite and it seems to be about leveraging the assets you have. As soon as I find someone willing to play I’ll let you know if it was fun or not.

I heart LNOE as it was my gateway game. A buddy showed my family and we loved it. My teenage son was way into zombies (at the time) and so he surprisingly joined in. My wife loved painting the miniatures and so the familial buy in was high. I have to admit being the zombies is my fav, but since my family has moved on getting groups together is tough. Any chance you guys are in Colorado Springs? Also, if you haven’t visited Flying Frog’s website for the additional scenarios, you should. I like the Hallow’s Eve ones best.

Since Invasion from Outer Space got brought up, has anyone tried combining the that with LNOE? The website says it uses the same game engine but I’m just wondering if it is really any fun? I have both LNOE and ATOE. Also printed out the scenarios for each that is offered on Flying Frogs website. They rock! Since I don’t get to play as often as I would like I can’t justify buying both expansions. Help me out and let me know which is better: The Coast or Something Wicked?
