Last Will is a neat little worker-placement’ish game that offers a bit of strategy for the player. The goal of the game is to spend all your money; or actually go into debt as far as you can. Never lose sight of that goal at any stage of the game. I don’t dabble in the real estate market (this can be a successful strategy; don’t get me wrong). I merely focus on spending money as quickly and effectively as possible, and almost always win… The biggest tip is to weigh the action to money spent ratio. You might have a boat trip that lets you spend 8 pounds for 2 actions, but a Reservation card that allows you to spend 5 pounds for 1 action; wich is a better ratio and you can use that second action to spend even more money.

I have been toying with this idea, and will playtest it soon… I was thinking that in a real aerial battle; whether in space or the air, that a pilot that gets behind someone and has a target lock on them should be able to stay on there tail pretty effectively; so here goes.
When a pilot of higher skill is behind a ship and has target lock, within range two; the dogfight rule can be used. The tailing player may look at the target-locked players movement dial before selecting his own movement for the round.

My wife and I played the stripped down initial rules for the game last night and still played for about two hours! Was hoping for a quick game and wound up going to bed at 1:30am….

For a quick game we are going to try just having 6 cards in each district, and placing the game ending card on the bottom of the neutral district.

The ‘Power Badge + Race Banner’ is what makes Small World the; Fun, Strategic, and re-playable game that it is! So what could be better?!

Now this isn’t new, and I didn’t originate the idea (even though the idea came to me prior to research).

The next time you play; lay out the 5 Race Banners, and beside them place 2 instead of 1 Power Badge. We always stack the two Power Badges on top of each other in order to keep the second badge secret. So, in deciding which race/power to pick you only see the top Power Badge and must make a decision based on it alone. Once you have made your decision the second Power Badge is revealed and both Powers are in play with your active race. Also in figuring out the amount of race tokens you will receive; use the higher number of the two Power Badges.

This has been great fun for our gaming group resulting in unique power combos, high scores, and mass destruction.
