How can I help? Many enthusiastic gamers have offered to volunteer their time and experience to help with the BoardGaming.com project. So, we’ve set up a new system using ProBoards.com where invited users can participate in discussions about BoardGaming.com features, quests, and other technical issues. If you would like to contribute to the BoardGaming.com project, you are welcome to request an invite by contacting “jon at boardgaming.com”. Please include a little info about yourself, your work experience and why you’d like to help out.
Updates :: To avoid having to write entire news articles, we will be listing some of the minor technical updates and changes to the site on the following page: BoardGaming.com Development Updates.
Games I’d like to see added
Power Grid
Race for the Galaxy
Mr. Jack
Games I’d like to see:
Isla Dorada (Fantasy Flight)
Citadels (Fantasy Flight)
Arcana (Fantasy Flight)
Nuns on the Run (Mayfair Games)
Thanks for the game requests! Check back here, because when I add the game, I will turn the game names in your comment to links to the game on our site!
For review formats: I like the comments for gamer types at the top of the review (Ticket to Ride) but I like the Gamer Type comments (Lost Cities) only if there are comments for every gamer type. They are more personal.
I’d recommend adding Sequence to the list of games. It’s fun because you can do it as a team or play individually depending on the number of players. We played in teams so it was interesting to see what would happen because you can’t communicate with each other, you lay your cards down and try to strategize the best you can!
Supremacy
Talisman
Junta
I like the Lost Cities review format better.
And who came up with all of the gamer types? I love it!
More to add to the site
Starcraft
Pirate’s Cove
Loot.
Love the site so far, incredibly creative format
Rattus and the Pied Piper expansion – Z-Man games
Jaipur – GameWorks
user interface
Greg’s friend Renee.
I spoke with him about color. I found another page element that is idiosyncratic: gallery “featured pages” on the home page.
For example the one called BG updates is brown and it takes you to the board games news page which is tabbed yellow. This is confusing.
Interface.
Your global navigation does not work in IE 8.
(the hover and active states in the drop down menus)
(News and Reviews have no drop downs at all)
I’d be curious to view the site in IE tester.
Love the site. It gets +100XP for radness, and levels up to Board Game Review Master. Nice job guys; this one’s a winner. A board game review site that is a game in itself…brilliant.
Suggestion…more avatars in different genres. I love the leveling idea, and I’d love to have Lovecraftian themed (or monster themed) avatars. Get on it!
Home Page, Recent Reviews.
#div id userreviews.module
When you toggle {-}it hides the content, however to show it again you have to click “Recent Reviews” to show the panel again which is not easily understood. Maybe the {-} should turn into a {+} and you toggle that.
Avatars that are not gender specific.
I like that avatar of the fat guy with snacks, but I’m a girl.
Besides the older lady most of the female avatars are pretty much the same. Also what avatars for a younger audience?
When you search for game, since not that many games are available right now, instead of telling me that nothing matched maybe it could say something more friendly or at least indicate that the site is in beta. It should also lead me to the feedback page so I can ask for a game to be added.
Games to add:
Carcassonne
Puzzle Strike
My husband wrote that strange feedback about a cooking website.
Can we please be able to delete comments or reviews.
For now if you’d like to have a review, tip or comment removed, please request it here in the feedback zone. Thanks for all the great feedback!
Maybe this is ok? Maybe not?
When you are in the profile view and you see the persons reviews. When you click the title of the review it doesn’t “open” the review, it brings you to the review section for the game. In some way this is confusing cause you would think clicking the title would give you review.(I know that you can click hide/show)It is somewhat disorienting.
Instead maybe it could redirect you AND open the review? I dunno. Maybe I’m being picky.
Monopoly Deal
Wasabi!
Cyclades
Kingsburg
Kingsburg: To Forge a Realm
Dream Factory
Tichu
Rattus
I’d love to see:
Nuclear War (Flying Buffalo)
Nuke War Expansions.
A&A Europe, Pacific, other regional varieties.
