I’m sure I’m not the only one here… but there are the games I want to play this weekend, and then there are the games we’ll actually play this weekend. Want to: Takenoko, Lagoon, Mage Knight. Actually will play: to be determined!
What are you playing this weekend? Or what would you like to play?
I am late to this, but last weekend we found D-Day Dice for $15 at a local game store. We figured it out on Friday, played solo on Saturday, and played a 2-player game on Sunday. Since then, my son soloed a harder map and was defeated. It is a good game.
Over the last 3 or 4 days, my house has apparently become the West Coast warehouse for Queen Games. I received Thebes, Thebes: The Tomb Raiders, Maharani and Orcs Orcs Orcs (with its expansion) on Friday and Saturday… and could be receiving Escape Big Box, Escape Zombie City and Mammut this week.
I managed to get a play in of Thebes as soon as it arrived. I loved it – like a much more interesting (but also more tense) Tokaido. Also got the rulebook read for Maharani and the sheets and sheets of cardboard standees built for Orcs Orcs Orcs, but haven’t been able to play either yet.
@BitBot
Definitely. I’ve been keeping my eyes peeled scanning ebay and my LGS. Hopeful the annual board game auction next year yields positive results.
Logo grab, mainstream board game in the shops in the UK. Easy to learn, you got to be quick as well. 2 of the 8 big dice have bells in it (you want to avoid picking those up.)
@bobb33z3r
Yeah, in retrospect I feel fortunate to have found it when I did. An LGS was getting out of board games and had it for half price after it went out of print. It is probably the best kid game I own. I guess you can keep your eyes open at the thrift store. I had not realized the price was so out of control now 🙁
@BitBot
It kills me that Gulo Gulo is a gillion bucks online because it’s out of print. I’ve seen you mention it a couple times now and I really want to try it out with the kids.
I was in the mall doing some Christmas shopping and swung by my LGS…. and after weeks of seeing Love Letter on WYPTW, well, I decided to try and court Princess Annette as well. You guys were right, this game is fun! Review to follow during the holiday break 🙂
Managed to play a few new games this weekend which was a nice change. Tried out Bora Bora, Formula D, and Elder Sign at the local game shop and then ended the weekend with a nice family game of Lords of Waterdeep.
Only 1 game of Hyperborea and still gluing Shadows of Brimstone miniatures..
Nothing this weekend
Slow gaming weekend this was.
Only a few digital board games on my phone like Shelter (survival, zombie, comic, card game) and Iowa.
Played Gulo Gulo and Bling Bling Gemstone with the kids but not much else.
I got a copy of Ghost Stories that I am hoping to play soon, along with a surprise shipment of the Rue Morgue base game portion of my Zombicide Season 3 Kickstarter pledge. Apparently their warehouse was full, so they needed to get some stuff out, and the rest will come next year.
Just got my final version of Pay Dirt… goodbye prototype. I am definitely looking forward to using the high quality components.
Then light card games with the wife and kids.
@John-Silver Bull Games
Boy, if anything can sell me, it’s retro cover art reminiscent of 1970/80’s Arcades… Just added The Battle at Kemble’s Cascade to my wish list!
Arcadia Quest!
Just played Lords of Waterdeep this weekend.
Have played before and love this game!
We had a full board which always makes for an interesting game.
I hope my local gamestore will have 7 Wonders: Babel by now. If so, Sunday will be a treat!
It a The Nieces Invasion Weekend so mostly baking cookies, going to the local Santa’s Village for the traditional crazy Santa picture and a trip to the Mallatorium to help them get gifts for Mom and Dad. Most likely the standard games awarded The Nieces Favor badge – Krosmaster (especially after the Foil Pack Holiday Fail on my part – they’ll want to see them), King of Tokyo/New York,What the Food… or Mice and Mystics.
Kickstarter Christmas continues with new mysterious boxes arriving among all the Black Cyber goodies. A big box of fun from Fun to 11 arrived today with The Misky School for Girl expansion, More Castle Dice, Flame Wars, and Fairy Mischief (which was a non-Holiday Fail because it was promptly hid from tiny eyes.) More excitement with the arrival of Assault on Doomrock (a rare step away from Kickstarter to Indiegogo). Amazing! Looks like a combination of Patfinder:ACG and co-op crunch time of The Captain is Dead. Definitely getting a Sunday Night Learner’s Grind when the tinies go home.
@Stratagon Enjoy Race for the Galaxy 🙂 but be warned, you’ll be hitting up the expansions – it’s that kind of game. You’ll want to see what new cards hold.
@Kassidy If you see @Paladin – tell him ‘Hi’ 🙂
@Account Let me know what you think about Abyss if it happens – that’s one on my Holiday Watch List
nothing this past week
Hyperborea, Dead of Winter
Also I will read the rulebook and will glue all the miniatures of Shadows of Brimstone.
