“Speed Play for Timed Turns”

Playing in tournaments often players will be asked to play to very tight timed turns. Here are a few tips aimed at making such play easier.

Prioritize targets during your opponents turn. Know what your units are going to charge/shoot before you have to spend time activating them.

Don’t roll blast damage against targets unlikely to be wounded by it. Blast rolls against high armour targets often eat up time that could be used activating another unit.

Practice judging ranges so you don’t have to measure as often or as carefully, and measure ranges at once when possible. Measuring for the farthest model in a unit first will let you save measuring for the rest of the unit.

Have a plan to win the scenario at the start of the game and deploy accordingly.

“Wording of rules and abilities”

pay VERY close attention to the wording of rules and abilities. Privateer Press is famous for their precise, clear cut, no gray area rules. However that doesn’t mean some people can’t misunderstand them because of the nature of exact wording in the rules. I have lost games because of rules i did not pay close attention to.

If you are not sure how a rule is stated exactly and cant wrap your head around it, ask another player of higher experience or ask on forums! I have done so plenty of times and they are always glad to help, even better if your local gaming store has a press ganger.

remember to pay attention to the wording!

“Mangled Metal”

One variant scenario of play for warmachine/hordes involves fielding an all jack/beast army. In this system no infantry or solos are allowed. In Mangled Metal, warmachine is truly a war of machines.

“Paint your models”

No seriously, if your models are painted, the dice will roll better for you. 🙂
