“When Playing With First Timers, Don't Use Event Cards”

I’ve found it easier to teach the game to new players by omitting the event cards at the start of each round, as stated in the rule book. Although this does not make the game that much more complicated, once players have played the game and gotten a feel for it, the event cards can add a lot more strategy to the game.

“Use The Neutral Architect”

Spending a turn to take the neutral architect can be a pretty good strategy. Although you don’t get the bonus for putting cubes on his area, similar to placing cubes on the area where your own architect is, since he automatically scores at the end of every round, this can be an easy way to get your cubes into the scoring region of your choice during the round itself, as well as at the end of the round
