“Pack early -- death is a long journey”

Many players will ignore the free once-per-turn Entomb action until several turns have passed, choosing instead to use every bit of purchasing and/or action power on their turn. The built-in Entomb lets you start thinning your deck early, however, getting the starter cards out of the way as early as Turn 1 and letting your purchases start having an impact more quickly. Just be careful not to thin your deck so much that you can’t afford Age III cards.

“Don't sell yourself short”

Unlike deckbuilders that use “chaff” cards or other non-money cards (like Trains or the DC Comics Deckbuilding Game), each player in this game has access to the same 5 gold on turns 1 and 2. While the abilities on 3-cost cards can be very tempting, I recommend instead going for a 4-cost or 5-cost card instead if possible — the 2 gold production of these will serve you better as the turns advance and Age III approaches than will the 1 gold production of the 3-cost cards.

“Solo play ”

The solo play rules are fantastic. Super simple mechanically, and well balanced and challenging. The rules are on the site here: http://www.alderac.com/valleyofthekings-solitaire/

Definitely worth checking out.
