“Card Draw is King”

The letter cards that give you +1 or +3 cards drawn in your next hand give you even more options, and are better at setting up flexible 7-, 8-, or 9-letter words to acquire the Common cards than even the two-letter compounds. Grabbing the card-draw cards also let you cycle your deck more quickly to get at your new purchases.

“The word "Points" for new players”

There are three different sets of points in this game. We generally call them points and after playing several times, we don’t get confused.

When playing a word, we add up the points that are on each letter card. That total of points allow us to purchase cards of that value. That might be a 4 cent card with our 4 points that we scored on the word. In the end, we will not win because we will add up victory points – which are not the cent cost of a card or the points it will score when used. Victory points are attached to common cards that you earn, wild card you start with, or fame cards that you purchase (and act as wild cards in your hand). Those fame points (victory points) are indicated in yellow with a star.

There are points, cent costs, and fame points. Don’t get them mixed up.

“Swear jar”

Anytime someone spells a curse word, that player must pay each other player $1. Not a money cube, an actual $1.
