“Teaching Infections First”

Although Panic Station is not a difficult game to play, it contains elements that are difficult to teach. Before sitting down to play this game, the players absolutely need to understand how the infection mechanics work and how they affect the game. Teaching how they work during the game only slows the play down and confuses the players.

To that end, the person teaching the game should play out several encounters between the participants, first with the cards being traded revealed to everyone and then hidden. The cards traded in each case should be revealed and their consequences explained. The teaching player should start as the Host and trade with another player, attempting to infect him. Once a player has been infected, he should attempt to infect another, again initially using revealed cards and then hidden ones.
