“You gotta know when to hold 'em”

Protip: don’t lead with your ladybugs. I tend to find that you need the hive to develop a bit before putting them on the board, or else most players will quickly try to trap them before they can ever be useful. If you can set up the hive to a shape of your choosing first, a well-placed ladybug can later act as a great striker OR as a great diversion to distract your opponent, allowing you to move some of your earlier “basic” pieces while they try to trap the ladybug.
