“Block the narrower roads”

It might be a good idea at some points to block the road when it narrows down, because then the other gamers might be forced to lay back, use one move to pass or maybe take the longer road around. If planned properly, you might get an advantage from it in your next move.

“You need to plan your trip to see Caesar”

This is pretty elementary, but often missed by new players: pay close attention to the layout of the board and which lane you need to be in to pay tribute to Caesar. If you misjudge the final corner, you can so easily get yourself shut out, which is infuriating for you but hilarious for everyone else.
