The holiday season is upon us, we have to break ourselves in for later in the month when we’ll be having some epic gaming marathons! This weekend we’ll be playing Dead of Winter (which we finally played last week and are now huge fans!), as well as Seventh Hero and Pagoda.
What are you playing this weekend?
Gonna try a proper 6player Game Of Thrones – as I’ve only given 3ppl a shot – Avalon, KoT w/Power Up, Jaipur & Augustus with the SO and her fam respectively, both for the first time and hopefully some Terra Mystica!
With kids:
Uno x2, Roll for it! & Coin Age
With local Gamers:
Lagoon: Land of Druids, King of New York, Pixel Tactics (mix of 1 through 3), Star Realms, Tiny Epic Kingdoms & Rampage aka. Terror in Meeple City

Dont’ know which one I will get between X-Wing and DnD Attack Wing but I will get a mat for sure for the game
Talking about Christmas…I just received the 2 core set of Shadows of Brimstone (game that is not on this site yet but hoping it will come soon). Wasn’t expecting so big boxes and miniatures that needed to be assemble.
So Merry Christmas to me from me as well
@Granny
Sweet. Love the mats (and there’s plenty of applications for them outside of the game. I have added this to my Christmas wishlist. Let’s see if someone in my family bites. Otherwise Merry Christmas to me, from me! 😉
@b0bb33z3r
I enjoyed it a lot. It is exactly the same system as X-Wing (licensed from FFG), but with ground troops (and a fantasy setting of course). I’m thinking about getting a mat from Gripmats for this:

It’s a bit pricey. But, at 3×3, it is literally made for Attack Wing. The star mat they make would be great for X-Wing too.
Merry Christmas to me?
@Granny how’d you like DnD Attack Wing? I’ve been eying that for a while now!
Well, this past weekend, I got to play D&D Attack Wing, Red7, Sheriff of Nottingham, and an epic game of Nothing Personal. I was going to lose anyway…due to some shady manipulating by my friend Chaz…so, I decided to sell my cards and give all my money to my friend Chris…so he beat Chaz by a point…
…proving once again that winning a game (like life) isn’t always about who has the most points, but who has the most fun spending them.
@brodie
What’s the name of your FLGS? Did you add it to BGdot? 🙂
Dead of Winter it was and Dead of Winter it will be until I receive Shadows of Brimstones and Hyperborea in the next few weeks
I attended a benefit run in my FLGS by some awesome folks similar to what @RevBob had for Pandemic – we played a variant situation to ebola, and just kept playing until we beat it.
Went to the game group 45 minutes away. Played Lords of Xidit, Colt Express, and a couple of rounds of Bang: The Dice Game. I had fun. Came home and played Dice Masters with my son which turned out to be a close game, but he won in the end.
Lords of Xidit was definitely a less chaotic “programming” game than RoboRally, but definitely makes you try to out think your opponents. Very light fantasy theme.
Colt Express actually another “programming” type game, but more interesting in that how you play your cards is vastly different each round based on the cards that dictate how the cards are played and how many bullets you’ve taken into your deck (i.e. clogs it).
Bang: The Dice Game went very fast for our two rounds. We had six players, but I’m not sure the renegade realized how important it was to help keep the sheriff alive. With 3 outlaws, it’s hard to keep the sheriff alive.
I played a bunch of Rummy with the wife, but not a whole lot else. I was actually gearing up to play some Gulo Gulo with the kids just before I wrote this, but caught the eldest drawing on furniture with a pen, so I guess I will be cleaning that instead.
@Account Deletion & stratagon
I will have to look closer at csi & mm. I am an Amazon Prime member, and tend to buy things one at a time, so I don’t know how that would work. I can tell you I plan on shying away from auctions for a while. I have got some good deals on some used games, only to have the shipping price scorch the earth.
Thanks for the advice!
going to play robinson crusoe
A couple of more rounds of Splendor on Saturday, and trying some Onirim (2nd edition) solo Sunday.
Was a weak weekend for gaming so we only got in some Boss Monster, Love Letters and Ultimate Werewolf. But we play on tuesdays at Dirty Nellies in Palatine, IL and we usually have at least one hundred people there every tuesday. It is like a mini Gen Con every Tuesday. I got to play Dead of Winter and a couple of games of Smash Up then so all and all a good weekend.
I love Dead of Winter, it is like playing in the movie Walking Dead, if they moved up North!
@stratagon I travel back to the US or have friends visit us enough that I usually just have stuff shipped to family or friends and get it when I can.
Thanks @Account Deletion! That was very helpful. I’ll check those out.
The comments are being added in reverse order here…hmm…
For my wife’s birthday I bought her a game that exactly fits in her wheelhouse–colorful, simple, strategic, with quality components– Blokus. We’ve already played twice, and I’m sure we’ll play it some more yet today. Pretty fun, but I’d like something with a bit more to it. Ah, well.
Finally built a Doomtown: Reloaded deck I was happy enough with after the New Town, New Rules saddlebag came out (Fourth Ring!) and played about four games of that, and also got in a game of Trains: Rising Sun.
A visit from my cousin resulted in a few games Frida and Saturday.
5 * Splendor
Machi Koro
Doodle City
Already picked up one more copy of Splendor as a Christmas gift and could well be more.
