They have some very nice inflatable, over-sized dice and foam dice that will make nice starting gear for budding gamers a bit later. For more immediate nursery additions, I also recommend a dice mobile, pawn nightlight, and a “Game Time” clock.

@Hai Oh, I disagree. All babies should be so lucky as to lay in a coffin box lid, dice rattle in hand, a mobile made of Cthulu minis spinning above, the smell of cardboard in the air…

@Granny Horrors! You can’t put a wee baby in a coffin box lid! That’s like putting them in one of those plastic bins that has a sticker expressly saying ‘No Babies in Bins’! BUT you can use a dice bag for swaddling 🙂

Thanks so much everyone! Our new baby boy is healthy and happy. Mom and Dad are doing good too, just a little behind on sleep. I brought Jaipur and Oddball Aeronauts to play in the hospital, looks like we’ll be here one more day.Always nice to bring another gamer into the world :

Speaking of GenCon, so wish I could have gone but this new little man took priority. Andy or writer & reviewer extraordionaire will be there, wearing our blue BGdot t-shirt. We should give bonus gold and extra exploration XP for anyone that finds him and gives him their username 🙂 Renee will also be there playing games and taking photos for some GenCon articles for us. She’ll just have a BGdot button, so she’ll be harder to spot.
@Jim – a heartfelt congratulations! Hope all of you are well… to echo Andy, childbirth is incredibly stressful for Dads as well, just nowhere near as physically painful! (obviously…)

So, this is how new gamers are made? I suggest a dice shaped baby rattle, and maybe a bassinet made out of an old TI3 box lid. Space Hulk would do in a pinch.

If it is any consolation our copy of Machina Arcana looped back to the shipper and is now looping back again (and I have a feeling that is what became of my oddball Aeronauts but I don’t have a tracking number) Thanks substitute mailman and your whatever happened with that! I used it as an argument for The Boy to ‘put a ring on it’ and he used it as an argument that it’s about high time he let me. Of course, we both then went to The Disney Destination Wedding That Killed GenCon as bridesmaidery and plus-oneness and were promptly cured of that insanity. 🙂
