“Watch for almost conquered islands”

When placing bridges, try to avoid playing them on a island where the other player is very close to conquering the island. If you play a bridge, and they conquer it on the next turn, you’ll lose the bridge you just played, so it may be a good idea to wait and play it until after they’ve conquered or until you can play enough bridges to tie or conquer the island yourself.

“Destroy bridges you can replace”

When planning to destroy the opponents bridges, make sure to do it when you have a card to replace their destroyed bridge with one of your own or when they have no cards in their hand (or very few). This will help ensure that they don’t just replace their bridge on their next turn. This is especially important if their reconquering of the island will cause you to lose attached bridges you currently have.
