“Specialize”

It often happens by itself, but it can be a good idea to specialize on certain assets for your shows. Like for example going for the programs built around warriors when you upgrade as well. Aquire enough soldiers in your stock and you get the bonus token that gives you extra audience. If the programmes are similar to each other it`s easier to restock during auction phase. And it can save you some trouble in haggling with the others for the missing assets in your stock…

“Special tile”

To make it less secure for the one holding a special tile, it is possible to say that in the fifth phase the one with lowest score may take a special tile instead of a regular. Tiles like the Joker and a free Medal are not so safe, then!

“A bit more difficult”

To make some of the more highly sought after assets less available, you could keep the asset tokens with green background in play at all time. People will have to toss away the ones with orange background to see new ones being pulled out.

“Nobles Movement...”

Don’t overlook the benefit of moving nobles onto the Emperor Medals board spaces.

Focusing on these spaces rather than moving nobles into your arena,it is sometimes possible to get 6 or more Emperor’s Medals during a game. Each one can be used to gain you an additional six coins to purchase new show tickets or win auctions with tiles you really need.

Using several of the Emperor’s Medals on the last round can get you a substantial 15 points or more boost to your final show which may vault you into the winner’s circle.

“Keep an eye on what future shows others may take”

In addition to planning for your finalé (as adviced by Paladin) you should keep an eye out for which shows other players may be heading for by keeping an eye on which assets they have. It can be very frustrating to plan several turns only to see your planned show being taken by someone ahead of you.

“What to buy first”

I recommend to buy an Emperor`s Lodge in the first round, as it will give you two dice instead of one, when rolling for the emperor in a later phase. It will boost your income

“Plan ahead for your last show”

The last round of the game is going to be your biggest about 95% of the time. Choose which of the big shows you’re going to purchase early on, and work toward building assets for it early in he game.

It’s easier to choose smaller shows based on the growing assets you’re collecting, than to scramble and collect a hodge podge of incomplete assets late in the game.

“Picky nobles”

As a house rule to make it more difficult to get hold of the nobles travelling around, all players could in turn roll the dice and move them. Then, after the last player has moved the nobles, the first player can run his show.
