Happy 4th of July!
This weekend we’ll be continuing to play Doomtown: Reloaded in preparation for our review. We’ve really enjoyed our time with it so far, but it’s definitely a game with deeper strategies, so we need to get more games in before we’re ready for the official review.
What are you playing this weekend?
We are playing Game of Throne second edition.. 😀
Thought I would dust off an old favorite of mine that was a forerunner of GURPS and play some old fashion RPG. For those of you who remember that Steve Jackson used to have a company called Metagaming, I am of course talking about “The Fantasy Trip.” I am actually a huge fan of the system.
Forgot to write my games in here. I got to play Arkham Horror, and a bunch of scenarioes on Pathfinder. Then on Monday, I played Ave Caesar with my cousin and his two children. Good fun with the cooperative gaming! A bit of monster fighting and treasure seeking
I was sorta inspired by that ****** Independence Day movie, so I played a few games of Conquest of Planet Earth.
We ended up showing a few people Kings of Tokyo, Bang Dice and Escape. Not too bad.
Only three or four rounds of King of Tokyo in and around the Netherlands vs Costa Rica world cup match. Hoping for a game night tomorrow where I’ll be breaking out the legendary Lost Valley of the Dinosaurs!
We finally played Lords of Waterdeep. We had family over and played some Quirkle and Carcassonne. Today we played a few games of Dominion.
This weekend I attended a small Comic-Con organized in a town nearby in northern Spain. They had a humble area reserved for boardgaming and even though the organization was probably not the best, since the sessions that were programmed to present certain games were not always celebrated, I got to try new games. First, I played 2 DE MAYO, a nice game designed by Spaniards (http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/36522/2-de-mayo) and with a very Spanish theme as well: The resistance of the Spanish troops in Madrid against the French invader in 1808. After this very quick game, which ended with the victory of Spain (!!!), we tried HANABI (unaware of the appropriateness of this game for the date, celebrating the 4th of July from the other side of the Atlantic unconsciously). We had a lot of fun and even though we probably talked more than we were supposed to. Finally, we tried SAN JUAN and joked around while reading the rules, since we had played RACE FOR THE GALAXY the week before and the mechanics were really familiar to us: we could even guess the way the game ends!
Yesterday, we introduced some friends to some of the games that we have been playing lately: LORDS OF WATERDEEP and FACTORY MANAGER . Since they like euro-games that don’t required players to do a lot of math, the enjoyed the first one more but we had a great time with both games anyways!
Sydney Toy and Games Expo – Dominion and Carcassonne tournaments. It’s absolutely the greatest fun! Hero (Dominion) to Zero (Carcassonne), but what a totally fabulous way to spend a weekend!! Oh and just a little Pillars of the Earth thrown in with friends at home in the midpoint!! 😀
As a lightning storm came and forced me to turn of everything electronic, what better than to play another scenario of Pathfiner Adventure card game…
Since it’s a holiday to celebrate our freedom had to play Tide of Iron! Nothing like kicking some **** a## to make feel like an American!
It’s the Sydney Toy & Games Expo this weekend and my friends and I were in the Dominion tournament, so for me it was all day Dominion on Saturday. Today (Sunday), I’ve pulled out Mage Knight and trying to learn it… if our kitten doesn’t keep jumping on the table… >:(
Played a lot these past two days. Ingenious, Qwirkle, Bohnanza, Love Letter, For Sale, Trains, and Dixit are the highlights. Playing with extended family this 4th. Might squeeze a couple more games tonight or later on Sunday.
Hanabi will be a priority due to theme, but I also hope to get in some Garden Dice w/expansion, Forbidden Desert (with a new-to-gaming couple), Takenoko, Room 25, and Kittens in a Blender.
Smash Up, Memoir 44, Tzolk’in, Caverna, Fleet, 7 Wonders, Hanabi
Gf is busy working this weekend so not much chance, maybe some King of Tokyo if we can find the time 🙂
Lewis & Clark, Ninjato, Le Havre, Android: Netrunner & The Resistance: Avalon will be our rookie attempts. Splendor, Targi and some Mage Knight with the GF when everyone’s gone 😀
@Granny Haha a Backstabber theme day sounds like awesome fun!
I would definitely recommend throwing a round of Cutthroat Caverns in the mix if you can get your hands on it 🙂
Gameday on Sunday. Backstabbing is the theme…
We will be playing a couple games of Cosmic Encounter (good choice Hai), Junta:Viva El Presidente, Nothing Personal, and Corporate America. We’ll probably throw in a game of Coup to end the day. Should be a blast…if not slightly painful.
“Can somebody please pull that knife out of by back? Thanks.”
With the family, we’ve been playing a lot of the Oz Card Game, Star Realms and Marvel Dice Masters. I have a lot of doubles now, so will be doing some trading with another gamer this weekend. Maybe I can finally fill in some of those elusive rare card gaps.
Happy America Day everyone! Don’t set your house on fire!
edit: For those non-American folk… still…don’t set your house on fire (I think is good advice on any day, really).
Seems like a good day to break out Hanabi…
