Our kickstarter copy of Xenoshyft Onslaught by Cool Mini Or Not just came in the mail so we’ll be playing plenty of that this weekend, along with playing some Zombicide after we watch the season finale of The Walking Dead.
What are you playing this weekend?
@Lone Token
Chaos in the Old World is only good at 4 IMO, so if you never have 3 other people to play with…don’t get it.
For Tabletop Day, I’m going to be going to my son’s soccer game, but then we will be breaking out some big game…like Cthulhu Wars, and maybe Dawn of the Occulites if my copy arrives. Super-stoked!!!
Survey…..will you do something special for the International Tabletop day next weekend or if you don’t care?
@Granny,
I’m super happy with Eldritch Horror…And you are right, I don’t think I need AH.
I did a research on the net and find out there are a lot of Cthulhu theme boardgames but that most of theme are forgettable and forgotten. However Call of Cthulhu hit the top 5 Cthulhu board games more than once.
Chaos in the Old World is on my wishlist but I but I prefer games that can play solo so I’m not sure yet…
We played Sheriff Of Nottingham… Man I can’t get enough of this game. So much fun and very engaging!
We had a blast with Alchemist, for which i am trying to write a review… difficult without using images.
Also we finally tested Trickerion. First turns where quite hard, but when we started to understand the strategy a very good game started to show up. I have to say i personally do not like the action point system, and have some doubts about some issues but we liked the overall. The theme is greatly implemented on the game, and it is a very very hard worker placement game where mistakes are very expensive.
Finally Tiny Epic Kingdoms as filler, very funny.
@Lone Token
Id’ recommend getting Chaos in the Old World as the cheaper version of Cthulhu Wars. The Warhammer mythos takes a lot of its flavor from Lovecraft anyway. There’s always Arkham Horror and the Call of Cthulhu LCG as well. I’m not sure you need Arkham if you have Eldritch, but some people like it better. It is super long.
@ Provincialguarding,
It’s funny because I had this reflection during the weekend and I did a list of all my Chtulhu games to arrive at the conclusion that finally I love this theme.
Witch of Salem
Cthulhu cards
Eldrich Horror
Elder Sign
Kingsport Festival
Mansion of Madness
Let me know if I miss other good Cthulhu games in my collection..other than Cthulhu Wars.
Yesterday was day of new games and return to old acquaintances.
-Uggtect
-Yedo
-Trivial Pursuit Doctor Who-edition.
-Space Alert
-Elder Sign
-Gloom
-Settlers of Catan
All around fun day, even though many of the players were quite late.
Easter is a traditional gaming Holiday in Norway but not to much gaming for my part. A few games of Saboteur, Hanabi, Click Clack Lumberjack and My first Dominoes.
@Lone Token
I do like the strong Elder theme there 😉
Been at the cabin this week – came home today. Played King of Tokyo with my son every day and Carcassonne with my wife every evening. In between I managed to squeeze in some Pathfinder ACG: S&S. Soon ending adventure nr 2 now.
I just got dominion. Played a few games last night for the first time. Very good.
Not much going on. Baseball season has begun, so that will be downing my time. Doesn’t help that I’ve developed an appreciation for OpenXcom.
@Provincialguardian
Yes and now my brain wants to get out my head 🙂
However, these are not heavy games to learn.
I’m actually reviewing a lot of board games this weekend since I am hosting an International Tabletop Day next weekend.
While everybody else is getting their Xenoshyft Kickstarter rewards, my Asking for Trobils came yesterday!
The components are much nicer than I was expecting, and after reading the rules it sounds like a comedic (and lighter) take on Alien Frontiers. Can’t wait to play it!
@Lone Token
Looks like you’ll having your hands full learning all those games over a weekend. You have some great titles in that list! Have fun!
So far we’ve been playing: Star Realms, Ticket to Ride: Netherlands, Bang: The Dice Game, and Sheriff of Nottingham. Hoping to Play Pandemic: State of Emergency on Monday!!!
Our group is planing to choose from the following:
Carcassonne
Elder Sign
Dicecapades
12 Days
Castle panic
Formula De ( not Formula D )
Oz Fluxx
Star Fluxx
or one of many others yet undecided.
The choice is up to each player who in turn chooses a game.
I just discovered Pandemic so I’ll be playing lots of that. But for Easter, I’ll be playing Cross Hares. What else!!
