RTTA is a great, short game for all player types. Looking forward to trying AFAoS – but have to make it through a full game of Twilight Struggle first. 🙂
Although I do not know any of them caught my attention the A Few Acres of Snow.
I really like RTtA, and may do a review of it. My family enjoys this game, and it gives just a taste of civ-building for a family. Leacock makes some really nice simple designs with enough depth to keep you coming back.
I like Martin Wallace designs too. I’ve only played A Few Acres of Snow a couple times, but think it deserves more exploration. I’m going to pull it out and try it again.
Two great games by two great designers!
I was surprised that I liked Roll Through the Ages as much as I did. Since I’m not usually a fan of press your luck dice games. (I play King of Tokyo to appease others but I only find it somewhat amusing.) RTtA had some good strategy in such a small game though.
Roll Through the Ages looks quite interesting to me; I will definitely have to find a chance to play it.
I’ve always been interested in AFAoS, but it slips my mind when I’m at conventions or game days. Thanks for the reminder. RTtA is a really fun game with dice or on mobile devices.
@jim Just so you know, the designer for A Few Acres Of Snow displays Marti.
A few acres of snow is a game I really enjoy, but make sure you get the updated fix to the rules which shold counter the Halifax Hammer strategy somewhat.
I’ve looked at A Few Acres of Snow before, but now I want to play it. Maybe I’ll have to drag my brother-in-law to the game library next Saturday…
I think there was some kind of glitch that knocked Roll Through the Ages out of my collection a while back. I had an item that was blank that didn’t link to anything, so I removed it.
When I went to do the exploring on RTtA I found that it didn’t say I owned it, but I’m pretty sure I added it back when I got it.
Weird bit.
