Tip: “Quite good as a family game”

Splendor worked unexpectedly well for us as a family game. It got us all to the table to compete with each other without being overly in-your-face. My children, ages 10-13, all enjoyed the relaxed game play, and in the end, they were all still friends!

Tip: “Try the online version for quick setup”

Some folks who enjoy this game mention the long setup time as a game negative. My daughter and I recently tried playing the online version where there is no setup time at all! We played each other over our two home computers and found it to be another way to enjoy this great game. Sometimes we want the physical game, and sometimes we’re in the mood for the snappier online version. Give the online version a try and see how you like it.

If you own Caverna, I highly recommend buying the Caverna game organizer from The Broken Token. Their organizer kit allows you to easily organize all of your tokens, tiles, cards and game boards in the original game box. It features three removable trays to make game setup and tear-down a breeze. Gameboards lock everything in place during transportation. Caverna ships with a lot of baggies but you won’t need a single one with this box insert! It’s almost cooler than the game itself, though it costs about $35. Totally worth it if you like to play Caverna.
