@Bits I eagerly await your home brew ‘Teleports and Trapdoors’ rules π
@Jim Hmmm…I hope The BGdot is doing preview magic on this V-Commandos. I’m not one for storming the beaches on the table top (The Tide of Iron look from The Boy is as much the kryptonite as when I rattle Talisman in front of his face) but in poking about this game it seems to pay homage to the old PC game Commandos which was more what I considered a strategy puzzler than anything else. *intrigue*
Yeah, it’s great to supplement the pieces. I broke out @Jim’s Settlers Dragon Rule with the family one night and used a 4e Green Dragon mini… they’ve never looked back!
Thanks! My daughter thought it was a great idea too, after she got over the shock of not using all the stuff that was in the box. Perhaps I can come up with a fantasy dungeon version of the game. Hmm…
@inmarg Glad you had fun! Looks like you could’ve bumped into @Elida there. (Dead of Winter is indeed a well done game)
@Jeff W TY! π
The Big Birthday Gaming turned out to be Fortune and Glory mega night co-op/compet play. Those Cult of the Crimson Hand are a slippery bunch.
Birthday Loot: Thunderstone: Worlds Collide & Into the Abyss from the Gaming Gang, King of New York from The Nieces (with some help from The Boy I’m sure :P), a bit of mysterious Amazon goodness with Doomtown & Eight Minute Empires from Bestie Jenn, the all-knowing other half of Sugar & Spice & D-20 Dice’ and mocker of yours truly since I failed to win a raffle copy from #GenCant and Gamers for Cures. I finally encountered Victory Point Games ‘sooty fingers’ as Darkest Night:Necromancer Edition arrived today just shy of B-day (YAY!) from The Boy (and since he was at work and I had off – Solo Learner’s Game!) and I just got a shipping notice for Shadows of Brimstone. This is a good week in cardboard! π π π
A bunch of games with the kids. I had purchased a copy of Cranium Cariboo at a thrift store a couple of months ago that lacked the balls. I managed to replace those this weekend, and that got played a ton. We also played Jenga, Chutes and Ladders, Animal upon Animal and Disney Jr. Scrabble.
We replaced the cardboard cutout kids in Chutes & Ladders with some painted Reaper miniatures, a dwarf, wizard and lizard man, and replaced the spinner with a D6. Made the game a lot more palatable for me.
Cthulu Dice got a workout while waiting for breakfast to be served at Jimmy’s Egg. Say what you will about it, that is a great time killer with the kids at a restaurant.
So Star Realms has become my newest addiction
On the app I played 18 games this weekend
and 6 Physical games this weekend
Besides that I was able to get in 3 games of Dice Brewing, a great little game that I picked up at Essen, with a theme I’m very close to, as an amature brewer.
My friend has been trying to get into the hobby so last night was his baptism by fire with a marathon of gaming that included 7 Wonders, Takenoko, Elder Sign, Coupe, and Pandemic. It’s been a while for me to have played any of these so it was fun revisiting them.
@ Hai: Very much enjoyed it. 4 days of gaming is never wrong although Sunday usually is a for prizes and lots of goodbyes π
Saturday:
Concordia
Crokinole *3 including a tournament win
2 prototypes from Kristian Γstby (maker of Escape)
Burgen von Burgund
Battlestar Galactica (7 players all expansions)
Trains *2
Resistance *3
Sunday:
Dead of Winter
Armymals
Dead of Winter was probably best new game to me, highly thematic while fairly simple gameplay.
Got to play some Settlers and sort the holy heck out of my ccgs. All in all, a good weekend! Gearing up for Christmas break, then the game closet will be getting a full workout!
Sheriff of Nottingham Loopin’ Louie Rattus Cartus Imperial Settlers
Apparently running through your faction deck in 4 rounds in Imperial Settlers gets met with accusations of breaking the game, (though I’m not sure why).
It’s been a bit of a dry spell, but I finally got some gaming in. My family and I spent the evening with friends who are casual gamers last night and had a nice time playing Flash Point: Fire Rescue and Ticket to Ride. Tonight, I got in a solo game of Legendary Encounters as well, and this Wednesday will be the first local OP event for Marvel Dice Masters. Looking forward to more games!
@Bit and Bot/Bobb33z3r Thank you kindly π

@Hai – Happy Birthday! π
I’m playing King of New York, Splendor, Palaces of Carrara and Brugge
@Hai @b0bb33z3r
Thanks! My daughter thought it was a great idea too, after she got over the shock of not using all the stuff that was in the box. Perhaps I can come up with a fantasy dungeon version of the game. Hmm…
Happy birthday by the way Hai!
@inmarg well, that’s kinda like cheating! π
@ Hai Elida is in fact my cousin so yes, I met her there and we played both Russian Railroad and Terra Mystica together π
@Bit and Bot I agree with @bobb33z3r – that is genius! You need to Potato Salad that up all over Kickstarter!
@inmarg Glad you had fun! Looks like you could’ve bumped into @Elida there. (Dead of Winter is indeed a well done game)

Didn’t get much in this week but did find time to play Dixit with the family. They liked it a lot.
@b0bb33z3r
we did indeed π <3 Settlers!
Didn’t plan on playing anything this weekend, but we ended up playing Elder Sign, Carcassonne, and Monty Python Fluxx.
Got to play some Settlers and sort the holy heck out of my ccgs. All in all, a good weekend! Gearing up for Christmas break, then the game closet will be getting a full workout!
Played lots of games at U-Con (MI) this weekend, including Battle Merchants, Tahiti, Fleet, Smallworld Underground and Pathfinder.
Played a fun set this evening:
Sheriff of Nottingham
Loopin’ Louie
Rattus Cartus
Imperial Settlers
Apparently running through your faction deck in 4 rounds in Imperial Settlers gets met with accusations of breaking the game, (though I’m not sure why).
We only had three of us yesterday, but played Valley of the Kings and Sail to India; several games of Doomtown: Reloaded were also had.
