This Saturday is a very special day… International TableTop Day!
What games will you be playing? Will you be hosting and/or attending an event? Will you be going to a local game store? If you do go to a local store to play, make sure to find the store in our Local Game Store area (or add it if it isn’t there) and comment on the store page about all the fun you had!

It’s here! It’s here-it’s here-it’s here!
Been waiting since August for Ancient Terrible Things, and, well…
IT’S HERE!
Got in two games (2 and 3 player) with the real game (already played once with the print-and-play version). Going to play once or twice more, then write a review.
I have been in Atlantic City all week. (Probably not the type of Tabletop gaming that is being promoted this weekend.) Just got home today and am currently trying to rally up some gamers to play tonight.
@Solotaire – our game store had Inquisitor cards but no Smash Up promo cards. We were pretty disappointed that the promo packs weren’t evenly distributed.
Had no plans to play anything but got a chance to play a game of Puerto Rico and two games of Seasons to my surprise. It was a great night.
We played Boss Monster and Small World with three expansions.
I´ve organized one but could not play any game. I did explain some games, like Pandemic and Stone Age.
London Ontario had a game crawl. Myself and my entire cadre of friends on the site here, as well as a bunch more, went off to do the crawl, which lead us to our local farmers market for Project Play’s gaming there, Game Chamber, our downtown public library, LA Mood, and Uber Cool Games.
My entire list looked like this:
Chez Geek, We didn’t playtest This, Coup, Werewolf, Love Letter Kansai Edition, Yakers, Ghost Blitz, Cockroach Poker, Cthulhu Dice, Love Letter Regular Edition, Get Bit!, Room 25, Cheaty Mages, Shadow Hunters, and Takenoko.
I got to Ghost Blitz before I was unable to put anymore plays in for the day :p Thanks everyone, especially @betenoir and @iambfg for hosting games afterwards!
Also, none of my shops had received, or even heard that there were promotional Inquisitor cards for Coup. Is this something that happened anywhere else? Ive been jonesing to get a set, and I cant seem to be fast enough when I do find them. Am I just going to have to import a set?
Such an awesome day! We went down to the FLGS and played a ton of games:
Boss Monster
Smash Up
Quantum
Betrayal at House on the Hill
High Command
Robinson Crusoe
Takenoko
Qwirkle
They also used cards from Geek Out! to give away promos and games, so I won a couple things based on my knowledge of JJ Abrams and Firefly 🙂
@Rocslayer: Hope you had fun playing Heroscape. It’s an awesome game that looks great in the table.
Yesterday, I met some friends at a Friendly, but not-so-Local Game Store, and we played:
DC Deckbuilding Game
Lords of Waterdeep with the Scoundrels of Skullport expansion
The Manhattan Project
Suburbia
Had a great time.
TableTop Day was a blast. I played eight games (two twice).
Sentinels of the Multiverse
Ascension: Storm of Souls
Munchkin
Dice Town
DC Comics Deck-Builder Game
Resident Evil
Lords of Vegas
Hanabi
My gaming group ended up playing Descent: Journeys in the Dark 2nd Edition and King of Tokyo. Didn’t have time to play Lords of Waterdeep because my friends asked to play more Descent. I was happy to oblige because my master plan is to use it as a gateway to role-playing games (maniacal laugh).
Rampage!
Takenoko
Lost Cities
Small World
Tried to get Pay Dirt (not yet released) to the table but ran out of time.
Saturday Happy TableTop Day World! 🙂
Well – one of the best things about volunteering at the FLGS is you can get there early and see what they have on sale and then put it aside on the sneak 😉 *hee hee*
The Boy nabbed Level 7:Escape for $20 which he was pretty excited about and I have yet to punch and sort and see if it is something I might like to play. 🙂 I picked up Smash-Up: Science Fiction Double Feature and Legendary:Paint the Town Red (not on sale but at a friendly neighborhood helper pixie discount 🙂 YAY!)
I did come across an unknown wildcard called: Super Fantasy: Something or Other (unofficial title :P) that I kept picking up and putting down. A comedy dungeon crawl it seems. Dear Game Designers and Marketers, the back of your box is as important as your front. The front catches the eye – the back should keep me interested as I eyeball the contents and get card counts and whatnot. Not so much there – so I need to do some research.
Boy are Gamer Potlucks crazy! So many varieties of Mac & Cheese! There was plenty of sweet deserts and the owner set up a grill out back as it was a nice day and one of the official staff grilled hot dogs out back. The D-10 Layer Nachos did not last long so job well done! Between running hot dogs back and forth and then running out for more ketchup and mustard (one bottle?? Come on guys!) and helping monitor table space and schedule – so little gaming. 🙁
I sat in on one of The Boy’s King of Tokyo events and towards the end of the day did get some Flying Frog in dark horse style with a game of Conquest of Planet Earth
In my downtime – I tweeted some game companies and designers wishing them a ‘Happy Tabletop Day’ and thanking them for sharing their imagination with our tabletops. They are the Santas that bring the gifts and sometimes get forgotten once the shrink wrap is torn away. It is much their day as ours – maybe moreso – because our tables would be rather barren without them. 🙂
All in all, a day most excellent – if not particularly ‘gamey’ for me.
And now back to WatchAthon and True Detective…
Today we play tested Munchkin Panic (not yet released) with Anne-Marie De Witt of Fireside Games and got an Ogre lesson from Steve Jackson himself!
The family rocked some Eight-Minute Empire, Bang:Dice Game, and Coup. We didn’t play as much as we’d have liked, but got a couple hours in. Tomorrow… we’ll start on another year of happy gaming.
My friend is having me over to play Heroscape which will be my first time trying that. Additionally we are introducing Carcassonne to him (I don’t know how he went all this time without playing that) and a game of Suburbia is in the works.
Last night: Two rounds of Sentinels of the Multiverse and a game of Ghost Stories, in which the brave, Taoist monks lost with 8 demons left to exorcise.
Today: Several really great rounds of King of Tokyo, a few hands of Quiddler and Scrabble Slam in between, and wrapped up with Wiz-War.
Hanabi
Dead of Winter
Cosmic Encounter
Pathfinder
thinking about going to All Things Fun! tomorrow, but if that doesn’t pan out, definitely breaking out the 7 large rubbermaids and playing some epic Heroscape!!
Spent part of a paycheck at Shall We Play?. Came home with Heroes of Metro City, Tokaido, Hive Pocket with the Ladybug and Mosquito tiles, Yikerz, and Allies Pooky and Witchdoctor Natyli for Red Dragon Inn.
Can’t wait to get Heroes of Metro City unboxed and to the table!
