After a few agonizing weeks of knowing it’s here but being unable to play it, we’ll finally get to Clockwork Wars this weekend. We filmed the unboxing video this week, and the components are as good as they get… and plentiful! While we were away from home Kickstarter rewards for Catacombs (so many stickers!) and Poseidon’s Kingdom arrived, so those will be next on our list.
What are you playing this weekend?
Hopefully going to be playing some Civilization with my partner and King of Tokyo with them and the small person.
This past weekend, I played several games of Pandemic, and Pandemic: The Cure. I had a bit of bad luck with each; I (we) lost five of eight games…
This weekend, I managed only a few plays: Triumph and Tragedy (A recent alt-history GMT take on WW2); Vinci (Small World‘s not-fantasy-themed ancestor); and 開拓王 (King of Frontier – a cool Japanese remix of Carcassonne, Puerto Rico, and a few other familiar games that plays in a half hour.)
And (of course!) they’re all not in the DB here.
Tried out a new one I got called tricked out heroes. it’s a card game well worth looking into. We played that a couple of times and played Roll through the Galaxy and Stone Age.
Actually ended up picking up a copy of Machi Koro Deluxe this weekend and, so great to already have the expansions. Did a quick run through to get the game broken in. Sunday we got to do some Scotland Yard, Ticket to Ride and Five Tribes.
@Stargazer1: Thanks! It’s a custom, provided by Jim and his brother for work on the site.
Somebody forgot Codenames at home this weekend, and the projected games ended up as multiple sessions of Steampunk Rally instead, with a kicker of DC Heroes using the Arrow Crossover Pack.
Won two games of Steampunk Rally, one with Ada Lovelace and the other with a ridiculously cross-functional Nikola Tesla assembly.
Hammered into Dominion Intrigue friday and then played both base and intrigue on Saturday. Epic games.
Went to a cottage with friends and brought quite a few games. Played several light to medium games:
– Tokaido
– Dixit
– Sheriff of Nottingham
– Lords of Waterdeep
– Sushi Go
I’m bad. Bad. Bad…… I’m ashamed to admit I played nothing this weekend. Absolutely nothing. I promise from this day henceforth I will play more games. I swear. I really do. Promise.
I only had time for a game of Thunderstone Advance with the girlfriend last night.
Turned into quite a great weekend for gaming this.
Finished up Sunday with a few more runs of Lord of theRings LCG before spending the evening at a friend where we played the first 3 scenarios of the 4th AP of Pathfinder ACG:Wrath of the Righteous.
Last scenario we earned an epic win on the very last blessing thanks to everyone on that location being allowed to make the check and needing 2 of 3 to succeed. This happened to be a charisma check only and all of us had that on our mythic path card allowing for D20 roll for everyone.
@Lone Token How are you finding Secrets of the Lost Tomb?
After a Shipment Gremlin delay – finally received my shipment of Battlecon:War Remastered! A big moment of *GLEE* I took a literal six hours, a fall asleep on the game room floor at 2 am, and an entire box of Ziplock Snak Baggies to combine and consolidate Devastation, War, and bits of War the First into a 2.5 box set. We spent the majority of the weekend putting fighters new and old through their paces.
Also did a quick rule grind on Tiny Epic Galaxies & Vault Wars
Finished off the weekend with an attempt at besting Mistfall – The Boy and I fell, the Mist – not so much.
Ok… We ended up playing multiple runs of a really wonderful Pegasus game, Why First?!
My 10yo won about maybe 4 of the 6 times we played. You have to come in second to score any points, but once you score points you are now in FIRST which by the end of 5 rounds is bad… You still need to come in second to win!
2-player plays ok with the variant, but 3 and 4 were super fun. Plays up to 6 and usually anybody can win even up to the last round. Very fun SUPER light screaming card throwing madness for less then €10.
But on the other side of the same fun coin was Les Poilus – The Grizzard. We did enjoy that too. Not a screaming card throwing game, but one that we played twice thru right away. Relies on players not sharing/communicating too much info from their cards which is usually hard for our family (don’t play RAIN you idiot, I’ve got three of them in my hand!) but it didn’t seem to be an issue with this game. All three boys and wife enjoyed the theme and the gameplay.
Played a game of Lords of Waterdeep with Undermountain expansion, my wife won. She had one of those 40 point quest cards that brought her up and over my score. I think those are too powerful.
Still obsessed with Machi Koro, so just playing that repeatedly. 🙂
Krosmaster Arena and Ophir against my daughter and lost the 2 games
Space Hulk 2nd Ed
Yesterday turned into a gaming evening at my neighbour. 3 player games of Ascending Empires, Sushi Go and Leaping Lemmings.
One round with Harbour was what we played – our 3rd player got sick. But on friday we’ll continue Jade Regent (Pathfinder RPG) book 2. Can’t wait.
