Got to play X-wing for the first time in two years. Made some mistakes; Two major ones that each cost me the game, but still went 3:2 placing 9th out to of 40. So not bad but just missed prize support by 8 differential points… Oh well.
@Hai There were definitely some overlapping skills, but it feels a little different when the game is self-contained (we didn’t and couldn’t look up obscure codes on the internet – everything we needed was right there) and there is a time factor. Apparently this game is fairly difficult – of the 56 teams that went before us, only 10 came out successful. We finished with just over a minute left on the clock – almost had to blow ourselves up to prevent nukes from launching. There’s one puzzle that no team has successfully completed yet. Kind of makes me want to go back and try it again.
Now I’m definitely on the lookout for these sorts of things. Puzzled Pint is high on my list.
So far I’ve played Antarctica, Takenoko with the Chibis expansion and yesterday I played 2 games for the 1st time of Defenders of the Realm what I’m calling the Grand version. We were playing twith all the expansions including the ones from last year’s kickstarter and some stuff the author published online. There were only 3 of us so in the 1st game we all chose our characters and we won(tough with the dragons in there) and in the 2nd game we drafted our characters. amazingly, we won again but facing the last general one of us died and it came down to a final attack rolling 3 dice and needing 2 hits on the enhanced blue dragon. Great weekend so far.
A friend of mine celebrated his 40th birthday and had invited people for an all gaming day. Started with a game of Union Pacific, followed by a triple run of Dungeon Fighter before finishing up with 5 games of Codenames.
Highlight was undoubtedly the 4th game of Codenames. First hint given by the other team was Bodyparts:2. Followed by our spymaster giving us….Bodyparts:2…
Had some Small World (7 person all expansion craziness), Arcadia Quest, and some Wrath of Kings yesterday and this morning. All in all, a good weekend.
Some games on Steam for me, this weekend. I got to play a lot last weekend, and I will be getting in some games next weekend. I have played some Hidden Object games and also a game to learn Japanese while I fight Japanese symbols.
Not exactly a board game, but it does contain a few: for anyone in Chicago, I recommend checking out Last Defender at the House Theater. It’s vaguely in the category of a room escape game. Set during the Cold War, you are manning a doomsday scenario nuclear command center that automatically retaliates for any attacks against US soil. Of course, things start to malfunction and you and your team have to disarm it before everybody dies.
I did it last night and they did an incredible job. It’s extremely immersive, pretty challenging, and a ton of fun. Highly recommended!
Doing some heavy on-line wargaming this weekend. My Napoleonic Wars and one of my Sword of Rome games are close to finishing. The players in the respective games decided to make a push to get them completed. I will also be playing a F2F game of Kutuzov on Sunday.
@grysqrl Ah yes – Puzzled Pint – never have been to one but I sometimes poke around past one’s at work
Been playing World Of Warcraft the adveture game…..kids love it, but not to be found on here?

We have finish the 3rd scenario for TIME Stories and 2 games of our new game King’s Abbey
Ticket to Ride: Nordic Countries and Settlers of the Stone Age
Only had time to play Dixit (2x, Odyssey and Origins). It was fun!

They had arm and eye, we had spine and tooth.

@grysqrl I have to say – as someone who had a hand in cracking the ARG – any ‘Escape The Room’ should be a piece o cake for you 🙂
Sentinels of the Multiverse
My wife and I feel like playing some spooky games. Letters from Whitechapel and Mansions of Madness on deck.
My daughter has a friend over so we will not get too complicated this weekend. Rampage, Bang: the dice game, and maybe Burgle Bros.

Really looking forward to getting some gaming in this weekend. Maybe Star Wars: X-Wing, Fortune & Glory, Pandemic. Might even pick up a new game too.
