This weekend we’re camping with the family, so we’ll have to bring games that won’t blow away in the wind and don’t take up much table space. Hive and a set of dominos sound like good options.
A couple questions this week… Do you have a favorite game to bring on a camping trip or when you travel? And as always, what are you playing this weekend?
Just a solo game of Sentinels this weekend.
Anytime we’re going on a trip and plan to game I bring Guillotine, Citadels, and a bag of Carcassonne tiles. If I have more room, I bring something like Dominion, 7 Wonders, etc. I think next trip I’ll bring Sentinels of the Multiverse though.
On the travel front (we don’t do much camping), I too would pack Hive, alongside a deck of standard cards. The travelling games cupboard would also include Love Letter and Goblins Drool, Fairies Rule! for simple elegance and portability, Citadels for something rather meatier in a tiny package, Eight Minute Empire for decent compact area control gaming, and The Resistance (or possibly Avalon) because it is just awesome and takes up almost no space (to play or transport). There would probably be some other things like a de-boxed pile of Apples to Apples cards (or maybe Dixit). Oh, and because my daughter wouldn’t forgive me if I forgot it, Sleeping Queens.
Lost to wife in Ascension: Rise of Vigil, 71 to 68. Close race, can’t wait to the rematch!
Had an evening of light games with family last night. – Love Letter, Ticket To Ride, and King of Tokyo. It was fast moving and fun!
D-Day celebration today with Memoir ’44 Overlord this evening. Most likely will get some pre-game gaming in as well.
No gaming planned because my daughter and I will be painting our Mice and Mystics miniatures. They have been colorless for too long!
I played a game of Lords of Waterdeep with my wife tonight. I’m also in the middle of a game of Summoner Wars, and I hope to get in another game of Zpocalypse before the week-end is up.
Strange weekend. I’m cataloging and organizing games to be turned into the “public” game library for Spielbound. Will have a party to organize and label the bits of ~100 games this weekend. Should be fun! (and then we’ll play some afterward 😉 )
Thunderstone Advance, Quarriors
I have finally got hold of an Android Netrunner core set, so the wife and I are planning to try it out later in the weekend. Other than that, I’ll probably get to play a game or two with my daughter, one of which will almost certainly be Love Letter, which is her favourite at the moment.
Pathfinder!
Family and Friends Gaming on Sunday.
King of Tokyo, Ticket to Ride, Get Bit, Smash Up maybe some others. . . see where the day takes us.
My LGS is having a “garage sale” so I will be there to see what I can pick up early. Hopefully some good stuff.
I hope to break out my new copy of Takenoko tomorrow (super excited to play this!) and maybe also get in a game of Castles of Burgundy or Torres (another recent acquisition I have yet to get to the table). We’ll see what actually happens. I know this evening I have the next session in the Pathfinder game I am in, and on Wednesday I played my first game of Kingdoms.
Time to play Battlestar Galactica with my family on Saturday. Nobody is working at home that day.
