@Budgie We played a few tinkering about rounds before we set up The Pathfinder Six I settled on Harsk because I liked the deck peek and ‘throwing bows’ from afar. I just went Sniper. The Boy went with Lem for the assist and double spell types. Our friends round out The Six with Amiri, Merisiel, Seoni and Kyra. We’ve had some close calls. Lini was my second choice, but alas we needed a character that could help do some damage with Amiri. But Lini as Shapeshifter intrigues…
As for Assault on Doomrock it is going to get backed on ‘potential’. 🙂 Delving into it – it looks like it will scratch the itch of Talisman/Pathfinder ACG without having to worry about getting the gang together or permadeath. If it is a bit more lighthearted and casual that suits me just fine for pick up and play. BUT it is still a rather unknown variable so I’ll be watching carefully over the next 40 days to see what vibe I get.
@Hai – Oh my goodness! I had not seen Assault on Doomrock, but it looks really interesting. I watched Rahdo’s wrap-up this morning before work and it almost made me late. Now that I’m home I’m going to check out the gameplay videos. It looks like a lot of fun. I like how proximity was integrated. I do wonder about the length though and if it can carry it’s weight for the 3-ish hours Rahdo clocked it at. What are your thoughts on it?
Also, who are you playing Pathfinder ACG as? I’m Lini the wild warden.
@Budgie Ours should be coming also – but as you can see – the Endgame lies far in the future 😛 I would like to finish before Shackles and Skulls comes knocking though…
(P.S. Have you seen Assault on Doomrock on Indiegogo?)
In light of various Friday the 13th themed weekends mine was ‘a Babysit the Nieces while The Boy was away at Origins ‘for Work’ Weekend’ 😛
Fri: Six Games of King of Tokyo (with expansions) straight Nieces of Destruction:6 Hai:0 (and I wasn’t even sand bagging :()
Sat:I was able to regain some pride with a round of Smash-Up hich they like to play – but aren’t very good at 😉 And then continued our session of Storm Hollow playtesting that I started at the shore Memorial Day week. Imaginative and Gaming-Trained Nieces make excellent guinea pigs 😉 (Note: For those looking for a very light on rule set but deep on storytelling gateway to RPG for young critters this will definitely be a way to go when it sees print. 😉 )
Sun: POOL PARTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wed: Finally completing the Hook Mountain adventures The Pathfinder Six will be gathering for Burgers and Bugbears (c) and the ceremonial unsealing of Fortress of the Stone Giants
(@Jim A little catching up on the second half of the Runelord Hexilogy? *hee hee*)
And now I just wait to see what trunk full of loot returns from ConLand and thank the stars travel is finagled as a tax write-off so our non-existent child’s college fund isn’t consumed by a coming glut of ‘IT MUST BE MINE!!!’ Booth Mining
With the folks in town this weekend there wasn’t time for anything too time intensive, just a couple games of Marvel Dice Masters and Adventure Time Card Wars. My parents gave an honest try at learning Love Letter but it wasn’t their thing so we played darts instead. This next weekend we’ll be able to get the group back together and tackle something bigger, but until then we’ll be playing the sixth adventure pack for Pathfinder Adventure Card Game…which should arrive in the next couple hours!!!
This weekend I played a wide variety of game:
– On Friday, we played Quarriors, Blood Bowl (the card game) and Blue Moon City
– On Saturday, we spent the entire afternoon and the evening playing Civilization. It took a long time, because most of us were new to the game and the others had only played it once or twice. Finally, at midnight, a player completed the technology pyramid and won the game.
– On Saturday morning, I played A world without end and Settlers of Catan (the dice game) with my husband. In the afternoon, a friend introduced us to Clash of Cultures. We were not able to finish the game, but we ended up loving it anyways and looking forward to the next chance to play it.
It was a great game-filled weekend, trying new games and getting more experienced in our own games.
I had hoped to get a game in at the Denver Comicon, especially a chance to try Dice Masters: Avengers vs. X-Men which was featured throughout the weekend, but there was just too much to do and see all weekend. Great Con though!
Played several games of Loopin’ Louie and Telestrations. Taught Stone Age and had a massive 8-player game of X-Wing. As always, Avalon, Dice Town, Trans America, and Ticket to Ride were also played.
Origins had plenty of quality gaming. It’s not as crowded as other gaming conventions so generic tickets can actually get you a spot in the organized games. Full games that I played included Voluspa, Ticket to Ride: US, Lords of Waterdeep, Survive: Escape from Atlantis, Whitewater, Discworld, The Witches, Hanabi, Space Sheep, Pandemic w/ OTB expansion, and Zombicide, That’s more gaming than I’ve done the whole year up to this point. I’m ready for GenCon.
I started this weekend with three games of Star Realms (a nifty little deck builder that this site still has yet to put up here in spite of the buzz it has been receiving). I also plan on trying out Evil Baby Orphanage. And I am doing another off-night game night Monday and have no idea what will be on the table for that.
Yesterday, with my sister and her husband we played two quick Quarriors, and then jumped to Blood Bowl Team Manager first play with the expansion: quite a good add and a funny afternoon. Late we recover my first bought boardgame: Blue Moon City, maybe i will recover it for more plays in the next future.
Today we have agreed to spend the afternoon for a complete game of Civilization with the first expansion. Hope this time we are able to finish the game properly!

We ended up playing Star Munchkin (introducing our 7 year old to it) and Rune age. Both went down very well 🙂

My family and I played one of the oldest cooperative games around: 1000 piece puzzle! Had fun doing it too.
