We’ve got our hands on a pre-release copy of Libertalia, so we’ll be taking it for a spin in preparation for our full review that will hit before it releases at Gen Con.
This Saturday we played two 2-player games: Stronghold and A Few Acres of Snow. Sunday we played Bears, Walnut Grove, Olympus and Collapsible D: The Final Minutes of The Titanic.
Got a group of friends getting together this weekend and breaking out a whole bunch of games. We’ve got Lifeboat, Cutthroat Caverns, Red Dragon Inn and Miskatonic School for Girls lined up. If enough of us show up, we’re going to try out The Resistance as well. And if too few of us show, we’ve got Revolver and A Few Acres of Snow to tide us over.
As expected, we didn’t get to play much this time. However, we did get hold of a copy of Citadels and had a couple of games of that, which we enjoyed. However, I’m astounded at the recommended age of 14+ — we have several games that are far more complex, deep and maturely themed with lower recommended ages. Sometimes I think game companies roll dice to determine this information…
I was at Continuum this weekend, a biannual convention in Leicester here in the United Kingdom. I did not get to play many boardgames, but I managed the new version of The Big Idea and the vilely hilarious Cards Against Humanity.
So far this weekend I have played one game of Race for the Galaxy (hurrah!) and two games of Forbidden Island (one standard, the other using the iOS version). I am not sure what the rest of the weekend will bring, but I am hoping I can play a little more of something. We will just have to see what happens, I suppose.
If I can drag my son away from his PC and the Steam sale going on this weekend, I hope to play some Mage Knight. I love that game. Otherwise I will probably be playing a bunch of iOS games and/or maybe some solo Mage Knight which plays well too.
I picked up a copy of Monopoly Deal card game at a garage sale today which looks like it will be fun (learned about it here on Boardgaming.com).
Descent: 2nd Ed arrived on Thursday and I cannot wait to give it a go. I just need to get a group together. I’m thinking a minimum of three, four would be better.
Also, Hey, That’s My Fish! has been fantastic so far. Need to try a four player game.
@Ark, Story Realms is very promising. We’ve had a family play of the first scenario and I just need to make the parts for the second one so we can play that.
I don’t think we’ll get much gaming in this weekend. It’ll probably just come down to a hand or two of Sleeping Queens or Coloretto. But you never know how things work out…
Got my latest shipment today, spent the afternoon and evening playing Epic Spell Wars of the Battle Wizards. Silly, cool little quick game. Looking forward to playing it again this weekend. Also got the wife Ticket to Ride – Europe, so gonna play that on Saturday. To end the weekend, probably try out Growing Hunger expansion for LNOE. Only bad thing about Epic Spell Wars is that we went through the entire spell deck on one sitting (3 games, 1 win for my daughter, 2 for me). Need to get the wife to try that one with us. A lot of cards just aren’t as great in 2 player games (although still efective). When I get over this cold I’d love to try that game as an opener for my usual Friday group.
I might get to playtest my new war game some more. Otherwise, I’d love to give Omen a few more tries to see if I actually like it and maybe try out Fealty.

Just had Talisman: The Dungeon expansion delivered. Plenty of delving for my group this weekend!

I want to hear more about Libertalia! The world can never have enough pirate games. 🙂
Playing Star Wars d6 this weekend
Had a wedding this weekend, but still managed to squeeze in a couple games of lord of the rings. Massing at Osgiliath continues to kick our butts.

Finishing generating our Conspiracy X cell and onto some boardgames and CCG action.
Probably something on the lighter side like Diamant, Coloretto or Portobello Market.
Way too hot to take my daughter outside, so another weekend of her favorite games! Going to play Elder Sign, Gulo Gulo, Zombie Dice and Cthulu Dice.
Oh, and probably Candy Land…

Hopefully, I’ll be preparing to playtest Story Realms by Escapade Games. I just need to nail down my gaming group!

I got my Cthulhu Fluxx Launch kit! Cant wait to try this latest iteration of Fluxx!
