I guess our weekend already started because here I am posting this at 1am after an epic night of Myth! It’s not a game for everyone due to its large (sometimes frustrating) learning curve, but if you’re willing to put in the time, the reward is a game that will have you and your gaming group experiencing countless hours of epic adventuring.
Now to take a break from the rule book checking, cooperative playing and long game play times we’ll be playing Scalawag! over the weekend.
What are you playing this weekend?
Busy weekend ahead, but I’m hoping to sneak in some Ancient Terrible Things and maybe a game or two of Race for the Galaxy.
I got to play Caverna last night. Squeee! It lives up to the hype! Also got to play Marrying Mr. Darcy. That was a really fun game. The mechanic of improving your characteristics to get certain suitors to propose to you is great. And the proposal round at the end is alot of fun. I was pleasantly surprised by this game!
I’ve got a Pathfinder session Friday evening. One of the guys in my group asked for help in play-testing a module he’s working on, so we all rolled up new characters. Hopefully we are providing some useful data, though as is typical with our group we have some…interesting (read: often somewhat silly) group dynamics.
I’m hoping to get in a play of Morels either Saturday or Sunday, and if I am lucky a couple other game opportunities will also show up. Maybe another play of Tokaido; my mother and sister both enjoy it. We’ll see what happens.
@Sir G – Happy Birthday! Hope it’s a great one.
It’s my birthday weekend, so I’m crossing my fingers that the games will flow for me. I’m hoping to get in games of DungeonCraft, Jaipur, Treasures & Traps, Arctic Scavengers, Smash Up (with new expansions), Creatures of Dr. Gloom, SotM, and if I’m really lucky with my time, Zombicide (playtesting my custom mission). Wish me luck!
The friends I had invited over had to back out so it’s just my wife and I this weekend. Suburbia, Core Worlds and Ticket to Ride are “in” right now but I might pull out some classic Vlaada Chavatil for a change up.
@Artem Safarov: Thanks! I have played Mansions a couple of times and it was quite fun, with the group we’re likely to get this weekend it should be even more fun. ^_^
I am leaving the lovely city of Boston (and gifting my PAX East 2014 badge to a friend) and heading to a Bed & Breakfast in the sprawling wilderness of Maine this weekend. I am bringing a few two-player board games along, and wish Takenoko was here already.
In lieu of that, I’m considering: Pandemic, Small World, Dead Panic, and of course my beloved Mr. Jack.
More life stuff than game stuff this weekend
Fed Ex has assured me that my copy of the DC: Heroes Unite will be arriving today – hopefully with Starfire promo! (You promised CryptoZ!) so a def to some Ascension style driving a Batmobile while wielding an aqua trident.
The Pathfinder Six will be unbanding our ACG decks to begin Hook Mountain Massacre adventures on Sunday. Ah! The thrill of mysterious new cards!
Other than that – my prediction is an ‘@JAY Weekend’
@gargirl Well, playing Mansions of Madness with a dedicated Keeper can be pretty close to a full-fledged RPG like GURPS, so that would be a good compromise.
As for me – I’m doing some Ticket to Ride at game lunch, followed by a mix of Love Letter and most likely Lords of Waterdeep with Scoundrels of Skullport expansion.
I will be at PAX East helping with the Indie Bazaar booth! Ideally I’ll be trying some new RPGs by Epidiah Ravachol and Emily Care Boss, as well as all kinds of other new tabletop games. Come find me and say hi!
If I have a few mins to play, I think I´ll go for “For Sale” & “Love Letter: Legend of the five Rings”!
And a little bit more difficult, “Compounded” or “Isla Dorada”
I’m overdue to get my fingers into Mr. Card Game and some playtesting stuff. And Sentinels of the Multiverse, as always.
Most of my friends are out of town this whole week so I will be doing some solo play. I’m planning on Flash Point and LOTR: The Card Game with the hopes of also getting in my first solo play of Dark Horse and possible Pandemic: In the Lab.
This weekend we’ll either play GURPS or board games on Sunday. If board games I’m thinking Mansions of Madness, maybe. Hopefully there will a board or card game tonight too. Maybe we could play Run for Your Life, Candyman! ^_^
Fluffy, Ghostie and Snakitty came to visit last night as I introduced Dungeon Petz to the weekly group. Then we got lost in a hex-shaped nether world of endless factories, parks and shopping centers as the group dared to enter Suburbia for the first time!
Due to a visit this weekend I might actually get a chance to play some games this weekend. Likely of the lighter variety but games are games
If all goes well, I’ll get a chance to play some of my new games: Splendor, Legacy, and Island Siege. These are all games I’ve been itching to play. I may tackle a game of Myth if I’m feeling strong.
