Hopefully your holiday season has been full of family, fun and great gaming!
2011 has been an amazing year for board games. There have been so many great releases that have become new favorites. 2012 is looking to be just as, if not even more promising!
What game will you be playing to bring in the new year, and what game set to release in 2012 is highest on your anticipation list?
Man, this was a good read. 🙂
Christmas gaming fun included The Legend of Drizzt: D&D Boardgame, and Tales of the Arabian Nights.
New years was Dominion! and some Magic the Gathering.
New years saw two game I did not yet own – Race to the Galaxy and 7 Wonders.
First Game of the new year: Space Alert!
We played Chaos in the Old World several times, one of which was our first mistake-laden learning game, and became instant fans. We also managed to fit in a game each of Acquire and Vampire: The Eternal Struggle.
Had a great time with 3 rounds of 7-player The Resistance. Two new players, and everyone had a blast! Got me some real Resistance addicts on my hands now. 🙂
We’ve been playing a lot of Dominion: Intrigue (Christmas gift!) and 7 Wonders both quick and fun games that everyone I know loves to play.
Got a chance to play some Survive Escape from Atlantis, with the girlfriends family. And it was a huge hit! Slowly but surely I will convert them to hardcore board gamers, next is Power Grid!
Enjoyed a very gaming New Year, with Flash Point, Big City, along with others.
One big hit with each of the groups I’ve tried it with has been Tetris Link. It’s not a brainburner, but it does a great job of what it sets out to do, make an analog version of Tetris that is easy to learn and play.
I played lot’s of D&D– the RPG, board games, and Red Dragon Inn. Got to talk some Warhammer 40k smack while I was at it.
We played Ticket to Ride Europe, Dominion, Dixit, and Dutch Blitz, not to mention ate a whole lot of awesome brunch. Here’s to good gaming in 2012!
Brought in the new year with 7 wonders.
I brought in the new year with Catan.
Two of my friends and I played Seafarers and it was definitely an awesome New Years contingency plan (other plans fell through).
Hi all,
Just got back from vacation… with no internet! O_O
Played Scattegories, LOTR:CCG, Blokus, Settlers, Heroica, 1980’s The Game of Life (mom, got it for me for christmas… lol), Bang!, Munchkin, Poo, and Monopoly. Had a great time but glad to be home and glad to have internet!
We played several games of Risk Legacy, and now I think we are addicted.
Well, we started with a rousing session of Curses and finished up the evening with a couple games of Bang! (yay for getting to pull my copy of the game out and give it some use!). The rest of the time was spent nibbling on food and chatting, with a bit of Portal 2 thrown in there for variety.
All told a most excellent evening.
Started with Vasco de Gama, then moved on to Innovation. Currently looking at the shelf to decide what’s next. The wives have gone to bed, so it’s two-player style from here on out.
Going to the home of some non-gamers, but if I play my cards right (get it?), I might be able to get this particular group to play Bang!. So I’ll have it in the car, just in case.
Tonight I am going to try and get a game of Twilight Imperium in.
Cosmic Encounter added to the list!
Not sure what game(s) I’ll be playing to ring in the new year. I know board games were mentioned as being something we’d be doing at the party I’m going to, but I have no clue what is planned when it comes to specifics. I’ve asked if they want me to bring any games, so we’ll see. If I get a yes answer, I’ll most likely be bringing Dominion, Carcassonne, Ticket to Ride, and Race for the Galaxy. Maybe Catan as well.
As for 2012 in general, I just want to continue expanding my game collection, and I want to really get some regular game nights going.
Just got in three games of Risk Legacy last night with everything else. Great game! I really need to play that again and I need to get my own copy. I bought it for a friend for Christmas and you have no idea how tempted I was to give him something else and keep it for myself.
