We’re still in Q1 of this year and already there have been so many great
recently released games.
With Thunderstone Advance soon to be released, many game stores are hosting pre-release LEVEL UP events from March 2 through March 8. What games will you be playing?
This weekend was my brother’s birthday celebration, so timing was somewhat tricky on the game front. I did get in a game of Pastiche and one of Timeline, but mostly we were focused on other things. I keep hoping to get the chance to play Kingdom Builder, but it hasn’t happened yet.
Played some magic friday and saturday, followed by some munchkin, liars dice and various card games. And then today to I ran an l5r sealed event and started putting together a parajimbo deck for my wife.
Just finished a rousing game of Quarriors with the girlfriend. It was a tight match and she won.
I got to play Arkham Horror with a friend I haven’t seen in a while (expansions: Innsmouth, Dark Pharoah revised, and Miskatonic). It was really tough, but we managed to squeak out a win.
Also got to play Carcassonne with my wife, and she beat me soundly!
After finishing work, I managed to get to “After-Afternoon Play” held in a local hostelry just down the road from the usual venue. We played Lifeboat, a nice social game of survival and treachery at sea.
Puerto Rico tomorrow!
I got a game of Macao in. Lost, which is fine, but not in a glorious flame-out, which would’ve been much more fun.
I played 2 great prototypes while visiting with my publisher. Dang, people are really clever. There are new game ideas coming. Don’t settle for “just another” anything.
Not a new game but my group just played our first game of Arkham Horror. It was a hit across the board. Probably try and get in another game of it before the weekend is over.
I ended up playing Castles of Burgundy – which isn’t here yet. It’s a “do your best against the random backdrop” game – reminiscent of Troyes, Macao, and Alea iacta est (oh yeah; that’s not here either.) Like those others, it’s intriguing in a relatively a-thematic way. Best for the mediumweight Euro fanciers.
Definitely playing Risk: Legacy. Maybe some Smallword; maybe some Civilization.
I got to enjoy Takenoko, even if the FAQ shows we played a few rules wrong. I finally got to play Defenders of the Realm again after twice having time set aside to play it (once with it fully set up!) but not getting to. There must be something to that whole “third times a charm” thing.
@Decimit
I know what you mean about Magic – lol.
I like playing the multiplayer Archenemy. When I’m the Archenemy I really gotta lord if over the little peons.
Yesterday we broke out Chrononauts and played that. Today I’ll be in RPG-mode, playing Legend of the Five Rings (4th ed)
This weekend I shall mostly be playing ‘Axis & Allies – 50th Anniversary’ edition, a brilliant World War 2 strategy game!
@numare what is this Print in Play you speak of?
For me Locke & Key and Epic Spell Wars of the Battlewizards: Duel at Mt. Skullzfyre.
Then hopefully A Few Acres of Snow or War of the Ring.
Will take taking some games over to the inlaws for Sunday lunch, so probably some family friendly games such as Carcassonne and Ticket to Ride.
I picked up a copy of Ninja Versus Ninja for the kids, so that’ll hit the table for sure and maybe Ticket to Ride: India
Prototypes in development, Memoir ’44, Discworld, Belfort, and more!
Till now I have played Discworld, A fistful of penguins, Telestration, Monster Maler, Stone Age, Ticket to Ride Nordic, 7 Wonders, Chocolatl, Dobble, Blokus Duo, London, Pantheon, The Resistance, and will be playing a whole lot more, seeing that I am at a gaming event all weekend! 😀
Have my card stock coming in to print up my Battlecon PnP version so I’ll be busy cutting up stuff and then having my wife beat me up with that. When not playing that, gonna be playing Death Angel and Core Worlds!
This weekend it’s just me and the kids… so Heroscape for sure. I may try and get Pamplona: Viva San Fermín! to the table as well. We’ll see if they can hack it. Takenoko has been getting a lot of playing time as well…
