What games are you hoping to play this weekend, and what games did you end up playing?

Anybody at Gamestorm in PDX/Vancouver area?
Settlers of Catan in Central Park – cheese, wine, grain, and coal!
I had my first visit with a nearby game group, and both games I hadn’t played before. The first was 7 Wonders with Leaders expansion. The teaching was horrible, and my wife who doesn’t like to learn new games felt like she took a visit to the dentist office (which she hates). I thought the game was okay and had some interesting strategies. I played Medici next, and I thought it was an excellent game. My wife might have liked it, but she was scared off from the first game:-) I’d like to give 7 Wonders another try without the Leaders expansion (just too much to take in for the first time), but I’m not sure my wife will ever touch it again.
At the Gates of Loyang
I am demoing games for Z-Man at Lunacon in Rye Brook, NY this weekend, so I am playing: Ora Et Labora, Ninjato, Guards! Guards!, Merchants & Marauders, Cities, and Grimoire. FUN!
Most likely some Heroscape or catch up on some RPGs (video game) that I haven’t touched in a while like FFIV: The After Years.
Sadly, not very much this weekend. I might, if I feel up to it, get around to my review, though I am not sure of what quite yet. I have at least one boardgame to review, as well as RPGs and RPG supplements to review in bucket loads.
As an aside, like Granny, I really want to play the new version of The Enemy Within, as I am a big fan of both the original and Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. We played through the most recent campaign, The Gathering Storm and really enjoyed it.
@Magno – That’s what I thought when I saw it on Kickstarter. That’s a bummer.
I ended up getting to play Carcassonne instead of Race for the Galaxy last night (my wife joined in as well). She suggested we buy some expansions for it. Hooray – this might be a first! My friend and I did also get to play 1960, as I mentioned earlier. If you’re not familiar with it, it’s worth checking out. It’s designed by Jason Matthews, who worked on Twilight Struggle. They’re incredibly similar games, as they both have two players using battle cards for event/point manipulation of area. This is a bit more streamlined, though; there are some new elements, and it plays a bit faster than TS. It also focuses on the Nixon/Kennedy race in the US presidential election. Trust me, the designers made a potentially dry theme into something really fun and viscous.
I’m still trying to get to Epic Spell Wars. My friends and I are itching to play the remake of Warhammer FRP The Enemy Within . I’m not sure I can pull it off with only a day to prepare… oh, the dilemma.
Maybe if I can stop my pinning addiction… **** YOU PINTEREST!
I’m hooked on magic online again. But with the family I’ll be playing some ascension and orchard.
@IrkenInvader, you got a race you’re thinking of playing for TI:3?
Tried out Miskatonic School of Girls. Boy does that game feel half developed. A good idea that seems to have petered off half-way through design and the rest was phoned in.
My daughter and I are joining some friends for a casual 4e D&D session. Maybe also playing one of the vintage games I picked up at Goodwill last week: The Bionic Woman, Qubic, and 221B Baker Street.
My wife and I just had a baby a few weeks ago, so at this point, I’m just hoping to get the chance to play ANYTHING! 😉
I hope to get to Epic Loot, our fantastic Friendly Neighborhood Game Store, for some boardgaming this Saturday night. I try to keep open about what I’ll play, but resource-heavy games still don’t turn me on.
I’m (hopefully) playing 1960: The Making of a President tonight, as well as Race for the Galaxy (which I haven’t played in over two years!). I also have some gaming set up tomorrow morning, but I’m not sure if I’m playing, or what I’m playing yet.
Twilight Imperium!!
Just played Road to Canterbury for the first time. Very interesting. Also hoping to play Sentinels of the Multiverse finally, Memoir ’44, and some plays on my prototype.
I’m hoping to get Caveman Curling to the table and see how well it plays. Otherwise, I’ll likely be playing whatever the people that I talk into playing Caveman Curling decide I’m going to play!
I received my Kickstarted version of the Rook City expansion for Sentinels of the Multiverse, so I hope to play that with the family this week-end. I’m also trying to get in a game of Gears of War: the Boardgame. We’ll see how things go…
