What are you playing this weekend? (July 3)

Posted by Account Deletion {Family Gamer} | 3-Jul-15 | 26 comments

We’ve been on vacation with the kids for the holiday, making games (and website updates) scarce. We brought along Dungeon Dice, CHEW and Black & White, and hope to get to each when the kiddos crash.

What are you playing this (long) weekend?

Been slow on boardgaming for me lately. Been a little THe Magic Tower with my eldest kid + some King of Tokyo, but no “grown up”-games. That said my expanded gaming group plan a weekend at one of the guys cabin this summer. Last time I went there we got hooked on Bang the Dice Game, Ultimate Werewolf and King of Tokyo. Guess it’ll be more rounds of Bang this time also + King of New York. And hopefully some Zoombiecyde w all the expansions.

How did no one play Hanabi this weekend?! Seems like the perfect choice. XD

Ended up playing a lot of Ticket to Ride, both with my family and with my in-laws. I’m sort of done with Train-based games for a while. Guess, “Colt Express” will remain unopened until I recover.

My wife and I played Splendor with my Mom, and Mom did well. My Dad, who is quite intelligent, usually says our games are too complex. He watched us play…

Still hooked on Machi Koro, so we played that a few times this weekend.

@Hai – yeah, it helps that I’m on vacation right now, so I got a lot of time to spare. Plus, the first few days of vacation I was stuck inside with a lot of rain. My son and I are having a blast going through the missions.

I also got a couple of rounds of Catan in with my wife, mom, and daughter. My daughter wants a rematch, since I beat them twice in a row (who says Catan is all luck?).

I walked away from our ongoing Pathfinder ACG Game. Couldn’t take the boredom or extreme repetitiveness anymore.

Got in some Cash N Guns, Spyfall, Fortune and Glory, Flames of War, DiceMasters, King of Tokyo, Ticket to Ride, Spendor and some hungry hungry hippos with my nieces.

Happy North America Week for those that it applies to. 🙂

This week always confuses my DNA – so one strand says ‘Happy Canada Day’ to those it applies to while the other wishes all a ‘Joyous Jeff Goldblum Saves the Earth While Wil Smith Mugs in the Background Day’ to others. Jeff – I ate a Hamburger of Elijah in your honor.

(Of course, is blowing up spaceships the size of a hundred city blocks and dropping the bits all over the planet along with probable strange radiation – really saving the day?)

Games Played:
Don’t Eat Too Much Hot Potato Salad As you Make It – Lost Badly in the Solo Game

Kingsport Festival: Squeaked in a win as the dandy and dreamy Randolph Carter made a Testament of the other players during the final raid but my crazy girl low sanity gave me a boost. Ia! Ia! *jazzhands*

Lords of Waterdeep with Skullport: Welcome to Waterdeep – Population: Me Waterdeep became a crazy town as I ran the victory point track twice – finishing with 215 VPs!!! WOOO! I ran a victory lap around the deck. This was unprecedented as in most games I rank a strong second as some jamoke pulls a savvy last minute coop. I was also able to dump my corruption in the final round so I ended all squeaky clean and shiny while others felt the sting of biting the apple.

Of course, the Hai High dropped immediately afterwards as our traditional mega game of Cosmic E ended in a la-la-la planet hugging shared win I was locked out of due to Waterdeep race memories in the alien DNA. 😛

Today: More Potato Salad Antics and we begin our yearly Last Night on Earth Campaign Season by the light of Tiki Torches.

Jeff Goldblum gives good weekend in my book.

Played Memoir44 yesterday and will do some Ticket to Ride, or Lords of Waterdeep today. Whichever the wife wants to play. (Deal since I got to play Memoir 44 yesterday.)

The family is visiting for Independence Day (USA), so I’ll definitely be playing lots of Loot and King of Tokyo with my nephews. My wife is teaching them her favorite, Blokus. I’m hoping to teach them Sushi Go!, but we’ll see.
