We’ve been itching to play Eclipse and Keyflower lately, but we’ll probably only have time for one long game this weekend. Other than that it’ll be first plays of Chez Geek and Biblios Dice. Can’t wait!
I got my copy of Lanterns: The Harvest Festival this weekend. I have really enjoyed my first five plays. The game is light and quick. And it is strategic but not cutthroat with two players.
We played Zombicide: Prison Outbreak and finally won a mission other than the tutorial. It definitely proves that three heads are better than one. I will be attending GenCon starting tomorrow. One of the few advantages of being a Hoosier. I wish there were a way to identify other BGdot gamers in the crowd!
We played 7 Wonders twice, with the Cities and Leaders expansions. Everyone really enjoys that game. We also played Alien Frontiers. My husband and I like that a lot as well, but the younger players aren’t so sure. I hope it grows on us the way that 7 Wonders has. We didn’t get to play as many games as I thought we would.
I played a game of Lords of Waterdeep with the expansion with my wife on Saturday, and a solo battle of Memoir 44 on Sunday. I tried to get my gamer buddy over to play a game of Tide of Iron, but he was busy. Well, maybe next weekend.
Currently on vacation at my parents in law but brought a few decks of LotR:LCG and gotten a few games in and this weekend we went to some friends and played a few rounds of Splendor.
So pulled out some Power Grid with the new power plant cards. We haven’t played it in quite a while. I barely beat my son in the tiebreaker. I like the new power plants.
Also, played a round of Mr. Jack New York and Forbidden Desert.
I got to play a whole whack of games over the weekend including Shadowrun Crossfire, Tsuro, Shadows Over Camelot, Betrayal at House on the Hill, Sushi Go! and Castle Panic. Good times had by all.
We were on a sailboat around Turkey and some Greek isles and got back really late Saturday night so I’ll reach back to a few of the new ones we played this week, plus a new one we played today.
New to my ‘camping bag of games’ was Star Realms and Mr. Jack Pocket. I’m going to have to do a review of MJP because after 20 some games both my son and I really got rather even on both sides of that game. It is a keeper for us.
My family was in Istanbul while I was finishing up work befor meeting them in southern Turkey and I found my local game store had the expansion to Camel Up, so I got that and finally played it today. There are 4 modules and two extra player cards to make it possible for 10 people to play. We played a two player game (not recommended by me for the number of extra modules we added, but still fun… Just not really ‘right’).
Module 1 is bigger board and extra dice you add for the camel in last place and have the option to turn in a dice rolling card to add any other camel’s die (except for the camel currently in 1st place. Fun!
Module 2 is a photographer card where if a camel or stack of camels lands on it you get that many coins.
Module 3 adds extra leg placement cards and also half-card thingies that let you bet on a specific placing 2-5 for the leg.
Module 4 adds stuff for 5 or more players. Cooperative betting, or some such.
We liked the expansion.
Oh, just played a game of Mysterium before bed too.
We will be busting out the Zombicide today and we have a full day of Descent planned for Sunday. Last night was some hearty Game of Thrones to set the tone for the weekend.
@JAY Thanks. Haha! I listed it but with a more circuitous route of linkage than a direct drop to that…you know…*whispers* B-other Place 😉
It doesn’t have a listing in the BGdot library – but anyone debating about Plaid Hat GamesRise of the Phoenixborn – there’s a 24 hour pre-GenCon discount order at the site until Saturday night. http://www.plaidhatgames.com/store/69
And looky loo – there’s some Table Top Day Dead of Winters available with the hard scrabble promos. Felicia Day – you are zombie chow!
Already started out with some 7 Wonders & 7 Wonders:Cities along with Jaipur. Actually, I’ve been playing a lot of 7 Wonders leading up today. We’ll see what the rest of the weekend brings.
I’ll be with some boardgaming “virgins” this weekend so I’m hoping to get them started with something simple yet fun. Perhaps some Forbidden Island, Hanabi, and Elder Signs will suffice. I’ll hold off on Arkham Horror until they’re broken in….
For those preparing for The Best 4 at The Genny – BGdot Echelon diety speed and safe travels. Be sure to toss out some reports from the floor in next week’s WAYPTW I suppose. 🙂 🙂 🙂
For those of us not part of the Cult of the Cool Kids – well – there’s fun to be had at #GenCant2015: The Cyber UnConvention. What started out as a bunch of Twitter nonsense last year has become officially nonsensical and there are contests galore to win sponsored prizes – some of them even ‘official’ GenCon reveals. “Woohoo” says I. http://www.gencant.com/prizes/
General information can be found at the official unofficial Non-Con site http://www.gencant.com/
In Virtual Hall Q-5423-Zed there will be #GenCantSoloCon a sponsored side event challenge for Solo Gamers. Information and entry rules: http://www.gencant.com/gencantsolocon/
I’m sure @LoneToken and others will be happy to represent Team BGdot 🙂
And while at the moment not official unofficial GenCant fare – The Docking Bay 94 podcast and our own @Artem of Cauldron and Altema Games are holding their own Boardgame Habitat Photo Contest during the Homebound 4. http://db94podcast.libsyn.com/#Bw0BkXher4XqWTeO.99
I will continue to Report from the Futon over the coming week to keep everyone abreast of how to combine cardboard and creativity and enjoy GenCant 2015.
Biblios Dice looks really good, and I have enjoyed dice variants of other titles. I ordered Lanterns: The Harvest Festival, and I hope it arrives tomorrow… I expect some light, tile-laying fun.

Looking forward to some Zombicide this weekend.

I just picked zombicide so I really want to crack this open and give it a shot.
