Lately we have been playing an Interactive Serial Mystery, where they mail us a package each month with clues to puzzle out. We really enjoy it. Maybe we’ll also make some time for Snippets and Takenoko.
Happy Groundhog Day!
What are you playing this weekend?
@ Nick Sounds like you need a 1 x 20 🙂 Or is that a 20 x 1
I feel as though this 10×10 challenge is for people who don’t have a massive, crushing backlog of games sitting around that they want to get through. These days I’m put out any time I introduce a new game to somebody and they love it so much that they want to play it endlessly.
You can grow to love a game on your own time! Playing with me means you’re on the clock, dangit! >:O
@Tiana: The challenge is whatever you want it to be. Some people are strict, set their goals at the beginning of the year and don’t allow swapping games in and out. Others set their goals at the beginning of the year and allow swapping games in and out of the challenge. Still others are more easy-going, set their goals during the year and allow swapping games in and out of the challenge. All depends on how you feel and how committed you want to be to the challenge.
Castle Panic
Thanks for all who replied about the 10×10 challenge. I mostly play games with my husband and friends when we get together. I don’t belong to a gaming group, so maybe that’s why I hadn’t heard of it.
You seem to be saying it’s to get your current games to the table, so do you set the goal at the beginning of the year and it applies to games you already own?
No games.
Friday: Debuted Time of Crisis (2x)
Saturday: Through the Desert, Pax Renaissance, Photosynthesis & Bang: The Dice Game
@Tiana: 10×10 challenges can be fun with the right group. If your gaming group loves the ‘Cult of the New’ then it could get difficult. Games may be ‘forced’ to the table to complete the challenge. I used to do the 10×10 challenges but took a break this year, mostly because my gaming group dynamic changed a bit.
@Tiana901 The 10×10 challenge is to play 10 games in your collection, 10 times each during the year. It was designed to help people get things to the table so they don’t gather too much dust. I think it is a great goal considering how many new games are being cranked out these days. New games are WONDERFUL, but it is important not to let some of the greats be forgotten!
@amym What’s a 10×10 challenge? It sounds intriguing.
Saturday got to play Six Cubes and What do you Meme with my mom and brothers, great afternoon
I am going to play Dice Masters all weekend long!! Until the superbowl starts!
Will try to play:
solo
• Untold: Adventures Await
• Sub Terra
• Tavarua
And maybe Space Alert (before I sell it next week)
with SO
• Hardback
My wife and I taught my Dad how to Play Qwixx, and we are going to try Biblios next.
I’m hoping to get in a game of Scoville. It’s on our 10×10 challenge for the year, and we haven’t played it in a long time. Other than that, maybe some Unfair or Hogwarts. I’ll have to see what my other half is willing to play.
Will introduce Agra to a gaming buddy on Friday. Saturday we will try to get in a game of Stone Age with the Family and Sunday we will break out the two expansions to Raiders of the North Sea. Thant’s the plans for now anyway.
I’m going to get in a game of Tide of Iron the Normandy expansion. I’ll try to play a game of Lords of Waterdeep with my wife. We’ll end up playing the settlers expansion, Traders and Barbarians expansion (her favorite).
Readin’ books for grad classes.
Writin’ papers for grad classes.
Gradin’ undergrad papers for grad assistantship.
Fittin’ family Scrabble into the gaps.
Rinse and repeat for the next three and a half months?
I am probably working all weekend. I might try to get a game of Deep Space D6, Forbidden Desert, or one of the Tiny Epic games (Galaxies or Defenders).
