@Stargazer In my family, I am the one who says, “stop reading the rules, let’s just play and we’ll figure it out”. That might have worked for CandyLand, but for today’s games, not so much. I am still not sure if we have played one game of Pandemic where we followed all the rules. I got so confused one time, I forgot about rules that we had followed correctly the time before. So I get muddling through.
Wow! This is a lot of good games to look at! Thanks
Yea for Pandemic: Rising Tide and O My Goods!
@Tiana: When I say muddling, I mean muddling. My buddy brought the game over and we cracked the seal, punched it and tried to play while reading the rules. I’m not a big fan of doing that because inevitably the game is played wrong, and in many cases very wrong. This leads to a poor play and most of the time leaves a bad taste in the players mouth which makes it tough to get the game to the table again. Not sure The Thing will make it to the table again.
By contrast, I am introducing a new game tomorrow evening and I have read through the rules and played through a few turns. I can teach the game with no problem and we should be up and running in no time. looking forward to this play!
Expansions of good games and some recent games that I had not yet heard of.
Great acquisitions.
Wow!! Two games from my collection!!! 😀
Yeah! More games I requested! Thanks @Tiana901!
@ Stargazer Thanks for the overview of The Thing. I know what you mean about muddling through the rules. I think we played Pandemic three times before we understood all the rules. I have been watching game overview videos before playing new games and it really has been helping me. I don’t usually have the patience to read all the rules.
I will look forward to your comments when you have a chance to play again.
Thanks Tiana! Heard of many of these games but don’t know much about them.
@ Tiana: Played The Thing: Infection at Outpost 31 only once. Unfortunately we were kinda muddling our way through the session and I’m not sure I can give an accurate description of how the game plays. It felt similar to Battlestar Galactica with the hidden traitor element and also like Room 25 or Omega 7 since the good guys must search rooms in the outpost. It was a difficult game, we lost after getting about half way to the exit point. It was fun though and looking forward to playing again, hopefully we’ll have a better idea of what we’re doing next play.
That game looks really good as well. Two neat-looking games based on The Thing/Who Goes There? released on top of one another, what a time to be alive. 😀
There’s two games I know of based on The Thing. Obviously this one here and Who Goes There, an upcoming game, also posted on this web site. Of the two, The Thing: Infection at Outpost 31, looks like it may capture the mood of going paranoia very well. And therefore will be too creepy for me to play, but if you get the chance to play, I hope you will post your experience and thoughts on the game.
Oh hey, a couple of things I tossed in there. Cool, and let’s see what else… is…
The Thing: Infection at Outpost 31
WHAT.
Another huge group of your requests!
