With so many great games being released last weekend, is anyone breaking out anything new? We’ve taken X-Wing for a spin and are loving it so far! Below are some photos of us playing. Quick tip: playing the Star Wars soundtrack during the game makes it even better!
What games will be hitting your game table this weekend?
Tonight: Sentinels of the Multiverse, Nightfall, Seven Sisters
Tomorrow: Lords of Waterdeep, The Resistance, Chaos in the Old World.
Saturday: Ascension, Ticket to Ride
Sunday: Pathfinder.
This weekend is going to rock.
Wow, did far better for games than I expected, with the bonus of extra time this weekend as we had a public holiday. A couple of friends came to visit, which resulted in quite a selection, including Lords of Waterdeep, Loot, Elder Sign, Dominion and quite a lot of Pickomino. Plus there was the expected Robo Rally and Citadels. I’m happy.
had a game day with several titles hitting the table but of extra excitement for me was getting to play my new copy of Rolling Freight from APE Games. Loved it.
BuckWilde,
I’m intrigued by your comment about renting a game from your local store. I’ve not seen a working model of such a system before. Would you be willing to post a general overview of how their rental program works? Any thoughts/experiences with what you like and what you would change would be great as well, if you would be willing to share!
I just rented Power Grid from my local game store. The wife and I (and hopefully a few others will be joining us.
I’ll be playing some Eclipse, Fauna, Infiltration, and Cyclades this weekend. I’m working on a software game interface design… so not too much time to play. 🙁
I picked up a copy of Redshirts at Gencon as a gift for my husband’s birthday, which was yesterday. I’m hoping we will crack it open this weekend and try it out.
Last night I played in a Magic the Gathering booster draft for FNM. We drafted M13. I opened a Jace late in the draft but I got stomped.
Tonight is Are You a Werewolf. About 20 of us get together and play to around midnight or 1am.
Tomorrow is Dungeons and Dragons 2nd Edition. I might be able to squeeze in a game of Descent… nothing new for this weekend. Good Gaming!
Show Manager and Village. Most of my Village people went to the church and joined the chorus. One went into politics and was the only one to die, but he will be remembered through the ages.
Earlier in the week I played Power Grid.
I’ve never been a huge fan of miniatures games, but I’ll be playing X-Wing again and again.
We got in a game of our current mainstay of Eclipse and our first games of Dominion (Hinterlands and Seaside) in probably a year.
Our first new game was Village, which I absolutely loved. It is a medium weight euro with an interesting mechanic in that you have to strategically kill (in a sense) your own workers.
I should be able to get in more Eclipse today with the possibility of Cutthroat Caverns, Ninjato and Last Will, too.
Ascension with all the new promo cards. Walnut Grove, tne new edition of Goa, and Kairo.
Well, I keep hoping Star Trek Catan will show up on the Target shelves!! There’s a tag for it at least, but if a weekend miracle doesn’t occur, I think we’re gonna break out Wadjet for the first time in like 4 years.
My daughter and I are going through our annual exercise (second year in a row makes it annual, right?) of deciding our (read: her) favourite game of the year, so scheduled for this weekend are Citadels and Robo Rally. Hopefully we’ll get to play something else too.
Zombicide was a blast! Too bad it’s not on the site yet, it would have been instantly added on to my wish-list.
Cool thing was that it doesn’t feel like it replaces Last Night on Earth. LNoE is the campy zombie movie, while Zombicide is that bleak “I don’t know if we’re going to survive!” horror flick.
Both are great games worth having.
Call of Cthulhu the Living Card Game for me this weekend, I’m having a real good look at this at the moment having picked up a number of cards and think this will be my go to card game.
Would imagine we may take a shot at Elder Sign also as it is a bit of house favourite. Also if we have time we will try out Death Angel and / or Blood Bowl Team manager.
I’d like to get in a game of 7 wonders in with my family sometime tomorrow. Maybe I should take it to our beach day?
I’m joining a new gaming group on Sunday. It’s exciting because they have a bunch of games to introduce to me and I them. I suspect it’ll likely end up being and intense game of BSG, Catan or one of their games. They are supposed to be getting risk legacy soon. That sounds exciting.
I was disappointed that my Local games store didn’t have my copy of netrunner in yet. I’m getting impatient enough I might just hack the corporation’s servers to print out my own!
Cards Against Humanity, Smash Up, Evil Baby Orphanage, Star Wars: Edge of the Empire, and Super Dungeon Explore.
Looks like a solo weekend for me since Guild Wars 2 is coming out and my son will be embroiled in that all weekend. [sigh}
I’ll try out Lost Cities on iOS which I just got and will definitely play Mage Knight and hopefully some Defenders of the Realm (I haven’t been able to really fall in love with that game yet). I’ve been enjoying Thunderstone Gateway on iOS in spite of it’s slowness and clunkiness (I suppose I should skip the iPad and play it on my computer instead).
Food Fight with Snack Attack, Star Trek DBG, German Star Trek Catan, and whatever else I picked up at GenCon.
