This Week’s Explorable Games
This round of Explorable Favorites is from BoardGaming.com member Roz. The games selected from their Favorites shelf were:
- Ascension: Storm of Souls
StoneBlade Entertainment | Published: 2012 - Malifaux
Wyrd Miniatures | Published: 2009
These games will be explorable until next Monday, June 6th
Malifaux: if it had not been so absurdly expensive I would have bought it!
Have to hand it to Ascension they practically invented the Conveyor Deckbuild or at least hit the ground running with it. DC Heroes should tip their capes
Thanks to Bgknighton and 1HuKnox for the new reviews that allowed me to complete the week’s explorables.
Congrats Roz on the Explorables spotlight! Ascension is a deck-builder so it’s never been on my radar (as I’ve said before, my gaming group does not enjoy deck-builders.). Always liked the theme though. I don’t play many two-player games outside of wargames, so Malifaux isn’t a fit either. However, Malifaux appears to be a good game with a nice theme.
Roz congrats on being chosen, one of the workers at my LGS just tried to convince me to get involved with Malifaux, very glad I had more reason to explore and learn about this game, it does look fun. And although I have not played Ascension, Storm of Souls does look like the one to get if I wanted a balanced game. Good choices for sure.
For me Ascension: Storm of Souls has replaced Dominion which has been replaced by Thunderstone Advance Numenera wich has been replace by Legenday Alien, Legendary Marvel and Shadowrun Crossfire 🙂
But still, I loved Ascension but as a solo game it was less fun than the others.
Congrats to you Roz on having the week’s favorites. I hadn’t heard of Malifaux prior to reading about it today. I am always looking for two player games, and Malifaux is quite nice.
Seems your Malifaux links are broken. Can’t find a rules links (most miniatures games don’t post those for free). But the dedicated game page is here: http://www.wyrd-games.net/malifaux
