This Week’s Explorable Games
This round of Explorable Favorites is from BoardGaming.com member Martin. The two games selected from his favorites shelf were:
- Shadows over Camelot
Days of Wonder - Dungeons & Dragons: Lords of Waterdeep
Wizards of the Coast
These games will be explorable until next Monday, March 3rd.
After you’ve explored these games, let us know what you think about them in the comments below!
I really enjoy both these games. Lords of Waterdeep is definitely my favorite worker placement game.
Shadows over Camelot as I played this game!
A really good game to meet new people.
Unfortunately, I did not play and do not know who has to play Dungeons & Dragons: Lords of Waterdeep, so refrain from comments.
Great games! I’m late to the party, but glad they both have lots of reviews and attention. SOC was the 2nd game (after Lord of the Rings) that really established coop games as a legitimate genre. One of my favorite moments was winning as a traitor when the heroes were only 2 swords away from winning.
@ Spike: have you considered breaking off into two different groups and playing two different games at the same time?? Our group has done this on occasion. It works out well.
So glad to see two great games here, both of which I just hadn’t the time to check out properly because of all the new games out there. I am VERY glad I did and may have to (finally) get a worker-placement game! 🙂
I’ve found Shadows over Camelot to be a fun game, and it has the advantage of playing 7; we’re often stymied in our group because we seem to usually have 6 or 7 players, and most games are 4 players, with a lot also in the 3-5 range. The fun thing about it is, the more players we have, the tougher it gets!
I really loved Lords of Waterdeep. Unfortunately, we seem to always come up with 6 or 7 players in our group, so we never get to play it.
I’d love to see Star Trek: Catan as an explorable game.
Lords of Waterdeep is a great game. I have been meaning to put up a review, but I doubt I am going to find the time this week.
Shadows over Camelot gets decent playtime in my family. I seem to be the black sheep in the group because I am not a big fan. I suspect there is little wrong with the game, and more wrong with me.
These two games look great. I’ve heard a lot about them, but never really explored them before now. Well done.
Thanks Jim for picking two of my favorite games. Both of these a tons of fun to play and not too deep into strategy.
Another couple of really fun games. Great choices Jim!
Happy to see Lords of Waterdeep again. I hope it encourages a few more well-written reviews. It gives me something to read while I’m scraping up the ducats to buy it (and the expansion) someday.
And I would also love to see Star Trek: Catan have an encore.
I’d be interested in Star Trek: Catan, because my oldest son loves Settlers. A couple months ago, I’d have said “don’t bother,” as Settlers was pretty played out in my mind. Now, I have to say that my son has me re-enthused about this classic. Bring it on!
I’ll find a user with Star Trek: Catan in their favorites and have it and another favorite be explorable next week!
I haven’t had a chance to try Star Trek: Catan yet, and would certainly be interested in hearing more peoples’ opinions on it, either now or in the near future.
@Jim –
More Explorables are always welcome and appreciated… But I’m one of the people who missed Lords of Waterdeep the first time, so I’m already getting 2 games this week.
So Lords of Waterdeep was explorable before, but it’s such a great game that anyone new to explorable games will discover a great game! I’m tempted to make Star Trek: Catan from Martin’s favorites shelf explorable… should I?
