Would really love to see older games that are missing to get added regularly as well.
Assassin’s Creed: Arena is a game that caught my attention and apparently the guy who came up’ve been reading the books of the series and / or played games in the series.
Systematics of the game did not find as engaging as well, but for fans of the series should be a good choice.
The other games, except for the Robots on the Line that caught me a little attention I think do not do much to my taste.
@NS Oakey – You must have somebody’s ear, because a “Stores” tab just popped up to the right of the “Quests” tab! Hooray!
@everyone – Don’t forget to add your favorite local games stores!
I love that games are continually added to the site too!
Any thoughts about adding board game cafes or stores to the database?
As a frequent traveller, I would love to hear about good stores in other cities, or to read reviews about what people love about their local drop in!
While I wish there were more games on the list I really am just very happy that you are still adding games to the database. Also it is really good to hear that I can change ratings if I change my mind after playing a game into the ground!
Great to see that we can change a game’s rating!
Now I just need to remember which one it was that I screwed up on and get it fixed.
I’m super curious about Assassin’s Creed: Arena. I like the concept, and am a fan of the video games, so I hope it turns out to be good.
I’m glad we can change ratings now! I’m pretty set on most of the scores I give games because I only do so after having played them quite thoroughly, but not being able to change the rating on the very few I changed my mind about was a little annoying. Glad to see it implemented.
Nice! Being able to change ratings might make me change one or two of my reviews as well, since I mention what the ratings should have been. Hmm…
@Jim I think being able to change the ratings at a price and at a level is a good idea. The ‘no take backs’ aspect of the ratings makes for a careful decision to begin with (although I have a few off by a point bad hover clicks in my ratings here and there), but personal feelings do change and the option is there. I’m not going to change my general feelings on Settlers as a game just because it is played out on my table, but some might. Not every game withstands the test of time or the competition building off of it.
When I rate a game I not only consider whether I LIKE it personally, but do the mechanics work, does it set out to do what it intended, and who might find it their cup of tea if I don’t – much like the ‘Gamer D6’ rankings here.
I like that the new policy still makes me consider rankings carefully, but I have the option to change if I feel strongly about it – well 50 gold strongly 🙂
Gah! It costs GG to change it. Looks like I still need to be overly conservative then.
Not being able to change ratings was one of the more frustrating things on the site. I didn’t realize the policy changed!
It will allow me to get my initial ratings down and change them after some more time.
@Jim – I did not notice I had the options to change ratings. When I looked at the option a window popped up saying that the change would not affect the game’s statistics and that it would cost 50 BG gold to make the change.
A couple of questions: Are you planning on having changes in ratings affect the game stats in the future? Would the 50 BG gold “handling fee” be dropped for higher level?
Whatever the case it is awesome to see you guys constantly working to improve the site. Keep up the great work!
I just got Tash-Kalar: Arena of Legends, and will be bringing it to the group this weekend… super cool! I am curious abut Assassin’s Creed: Arena. I love the Black Flag video game, but it remains to be seen if this is a good boardgame design, or just a tie-in to help sell another cruddy toy. I’ve been disappointed by the Walking Dead games.
The list is a bit short this week, but hey… did you notice that if your gamer level is 5+ you can change your ratings! The gamer level requirement is to see how the system works before we unleash it, though we probably will keep some sort of gamer level requirement.
