About Me
I love games. From board games and card games to real life games like geocaching. I honestly enjoy the playing of the game rather than the winning. I love the world to which you enter when you experience the game. Imagining I'm a sorcerer in MtG or an explorer in The Adventurers or a pirate...or a knight...you get the idea. I will play anything from poker and euchre to pokemon with my kids to an exquisite Fantasy Flight game that will take three hours!
RoboRally
I say RoboRally is a “go-to” game for this reason:
When my family is picking a game to play…and RoboRally is named…there is never a ‘blech…I don’t wanna play that.’ It’s always…well…I’d of course love to play that…but what about…Quarriors…or Alhambra…something we haven’t played yet. And we might play something new. Or…break out the bots.
Also…when you actuall say ‘RoboRally’…you can’t help but say it like you are announcing to a ballroom of gamers at Gen Con that we are set to play a life size version…dressed as our own robots. Go ahead…try it.
“ROBORALLY!!!!”
See?
Ok…the game.
It is my ten year old’s favorite. It’s fairly simple to learn…yet difficult to master, as with all the great games. The pieces and gameboard are…for the lack of a better word…fun!
The play has enough strategy and randomness that anyone can be competitive. And with the different boards and setups, you can have a short simple game or a game with eight bots and a huge map that could last for hours.
Richard Garfield designed a phenomenal, family friendly game that can be played by the die hard gamers…or my ten year old.
ROBORALLY!!!!!!! I love it.
