We’ve got family coming into town this weekend so we’ll be pulling out some family favorites like Coup and Flash Point: Fire Rescue, as well as some classic card games like Pinochole and Hand & Foot.
Since I’m Canadian and we had an extra long weekend for Thanksgiving, I got to play a lot of games!!! One we focused on was Saboteur. We played it with 5 people and it was a blast. Very fun, quick and easy game to play.
I played my first solo game of Mice & Mystics… Preparing myself for next weekend, when I´ll be introducing the game to my nieces… I think they’ll love it!!
This weekend was mostly about family gaming
Few games of Dwarf King, the family really like this one
1 game of MR.Jack, my daugther finally beat me
1 game of 7 Wonders
1 solo game of Ascension
1 game of Relic Runner
1 game of Friday
2 games of Love Letter
2 games of Bluprint
My son snagged the hard to find copy of Marvel Dice Masters: Avengers vs. X-Men, so we got in a few rounds of that. We also played some Hanabi and Love Letter.
I just completed a solo game of four player Through the Ages (Yes, I play all four turns by myself each round!). Nine hours later I finally had a winner. While cleaning up, I reviewed the winning and losing strategies. I was amused to discover a bit of gaming kismet. The winner had utilized Napoleon Bonaparte and Mr. October Monday himself, Christopher Columbus!
just got my copy of earth reborn, so ill be spending a good amount of time playing the intro levels. also thunderstone, my new favorite past-time. solo of course, because no friends 🙁
I got to play “Cull my collection” this weekend. This is a LARP of sorts where you permanently remove games from your shelf based on a set of criteria. My criteria was that the game needed to have been played in the last two years or it was out.
I now have 25 games or expansions that are bound for new homes by thanksgiving.
This weekend was our local 3-day gaming convention (Council of 5 Nations). Did a ton of gaming. Had a lot of fun but I could use a good nights’ sleep! The highlights are:
-Finally got to try Super Dungeon Explore. Loved the figures! Lots of fun but it seemed too easy. In the two games we played there was absolutely no threat of any character dying. I asked the GM about that and he said it was rare. I can see having trouble getting this one to the table as it seems playing the DM is not all that fun. I wonder if the GM was taking it easy on us?
-Finally able to give Alien Frontiers a try. I’ve heard so many good things about this game, which raised my expectation, maybe a bit too much. It’s a good game but I was a little let down on this one. The colony placing mechanism made the game feel like a race, and on top of that we had a kingmaker situation. The theme was a little weak too.
-The two games (Hansa Teutonica & Napoleonic Wars) which I hosted were sold out! More importantly the players all enjoyed themselves!
-Was able to play two of my all time favorites – Sword of Rome & Here I Stand.
My gaming predictions were incorrect! While we did play some Dominion, the big hit of the weekend was Tokaido! A good time was had by all, and many monkeys were found while bathing.
I played the new Minions expansion for DOTR yesterday(twice) and got slaughtered both times, but enjoyed it. I can’t wait to get my copy of the expansion in. Today I will be playing Heroclix and Dicke Damonon and maybe Fleet.
Not a whole heap of interesting gaming news aside from Legendary having a presence and various RPG and HeroCLIX fanfare. I did catch the new Marvel Legendary:Guardians of the Galaxy preview and casual word from the rep is to expect a Villains small box expansion and…*drumroll* a mid box expansion for Legendary Encounters:Aliens announcement round about the holidays. 😉
Would love to get a game or two of Zombicide in this weekend. Maybe A Touch of Evil will hit the table. Would like Talisman to come out, but maybe next weekend.
Going to go purchase Zombicide for this weekends “Walking Dead” premiere and make it a zombie-themed weekend with Zombie Dice, Zombie Fluxx, and Zombicide. Also just got my pre-order in for the final expansion needed to complete my full Smallworld set, the Royal Bonus expansion (previously only obtainable for kickstarer backers) and a brand new expansion “A Spider’s Web” have both been ordered.
Trying to bring out some games that didn’t get enough love the first time round due to new games coming in. Quarriors is on the list, maybe some among the stars and belfort too.

Going to The Lord of the Rings Fellowship Event at the FLGS on Sunday! Can’t wait to see Fog on the Barrow-Downs.

I’ve been playing solo Legendary Encounters so often that my fingers are developing micro-abrasions from all the shuffling!
Only Talisman (digital edition) for me this weekend.

I’m hoping to get some Firefly in this weekend. Certainly a game or two Munchkin is in my future as well.

I picked up Fleet this week, so I hope to play it this weekend. Otherwise I will be playtesting for one of my favorite publishers.
