What a week of announcements! The best way to put the icing on all that cake is to play some great games. This weekend we’ll be playing more Dice Masters as we create our uber review of the overall game as micro-reviews for the 5 different sets. Maybe we’ll have our own tournament! We’ll also be playing D&D Attack Wing and Sutakku.
What are you playing this weekend?
We played two old classics, Tsuro and Cutthroat Caverns. Great fun!
@Hai Hey, thanks! And see — this time when I told you “OK, I’ll come back” I actually did it. 🙂
@ Hai
3,5 days of gaming is always fun 😀
What was unusual this time was that half of my total plays was between just two games.
@Paladin *meow* Wellsy well – look what the cat dragged in 😉 Welcome back 🙂
@inmarg Your convention reports always make me jealous. Sounds like you had fun! Well done! (And a very bleak game of Dead of Winter is indeed surprisingly fun tenseness)
@Taxtu Welcome to The Winter
I attended Hoop and Stick Con at Ravenwood Castle in Ohio this past week-end and had the opportunity to play lots of games:
Splendor X 5
Mysterium X 2
Scoville
Merchants & Marauders
Harbour
Heroscape
Cash N Guns
Legendary Encounters X 2
Times Up
Dead Man’s Draw
Civilization
Summoner Wars X 5
Video Game High School
Imperial Settlers
It was an awesome time, and I’d definitely recommend the con and the castle as great places to visit!
Played some dice masters. We were slow to get into it, but this game is growing on me 🙂
Thanks @AD! I apologize for the 21 “Game Requests” you’re going to find next time you log into Google Docs. My OCD demands satisfaction!
Welcome back @Paladin!
I didn’t play much.
A tournament of Heroclix and after it, a couple of Bang! matches.
Along with some Dice Masters
Guys. I played a butt-load of games this weekend because it was my birthday. But it still wasn’t enough. I need to play more games.
Also, hi. I’m going to attempt to return to posting regularly, thanks to a gentle prodding from a certain Canadian-Jersey Girl.
But first, to update my collection. This should take a few hours.
@ Alex
If you love Dixit, you should check out Mysterium when it is published later this year. It is pretty much a mystery solving Dixit version where everyone is teaming up.
@Tatxu
Thought you would enjoy DoW. I had an interesting game myself this weekend as a betrayer. I had a couple of card drawers and had plenty opportunities to sabotage the crisis but couldn’t as usually only two of us contributed to it. Thankfully I was the last player on the last turn and with a crisis dropping morale 2 points, food running out and overrunning a couple of locations with zombies I managed to drop morale 5 points in one go.
I finished up the convention with a pair of rounds of Mysterium which Ignacy and his wife had brought with them finally getting to play the ghost. It was a blast listening to how they worked and talked together to find the correct cards and manageed to find the culprint with one day to spare.
I’m pretty sure Mysterium is gonna be a big hit later this year when the English version is released.
It has been a good gaming weekend (at last!)
Started with our Pathfinder: Rise of the Runelords campaing, two scenarios just starting chapter 2 (also at last!)
Then i finally achieved to play Dead of Winter, really a blast! After one first game pretty chaotic on Saturday, we played a long one of Sunday afternoon which was a great game: we ended up realizing in the last turn, that even having no traitor, our personal objetives were working at the same time with the main objetive. The pretty funny issue ended up exiling a player cause we need food to achieve our target, and even that we were finally screwed.
I can wait to play it again, and again…
An last, i have a second blast with XCOM. I am a big fan of the Video Games since the first UFO, and i was very impressed. Hope to have time to play it again next weekend.
I was at a retreat with high school kids all weekend as a leader, but we did have some free time, so we played Pandemic: The Cure, Port Royal, Yardmaster, Power Grid, Lords of Waterdeep and Hanabi, so it ended up pretty good for me!
Tried a bunch of new games:
Xia: legends of a drift system
Survive: Escape from Atlantis
K2
The Cave
Sentinel of the Multiverse
Castle Dice
Played some Masquerade; Good Cop, Bad Cop; Coup; Fallen; and King of Tokyo
Today’s gaming night was a good mix of area control, dice rolling ,deduction player elimination. It was a group of 6 of some of us partnered up.
We first started off with Ticket to Ride 10th Anniversary Edition. We had a couple of first timers and some people who have played before. It started off a bit slow with our turns consisting of picking up cards but in the middle, it was war. People’s destination routes got blocked. People were getting aggressive. Turns were picking up in speed and by the time we got to the last few rounds, the routes were being claimed left and right. I almost won but the fact that I couldn’t finish one of my destinations messed me up real good.
After that, we played Dixit. I love Dixit a lot actually. My favourite part is seeing what people come up with for their illustrations. The guessing part is fun too. With my group, we had some issues dealing with the creativity aspect of it. People were finding a hard time coming up with what to say for their artwork but once the game progressed, people were quick about it. I think its hard to grasp the concept at the beginning but once you start guessing, you will get it.
Bang the Dice Game was next on the list. Our group was six so it kind of made it obvious who the outlaws and deputies were. Once the Renegade was eliminated, it was quite easy. We had a couple of players who played the original Bang game so playing the Dice version really made this game flow very quickly since everyone got a feel for it before. This was a really fun one since, the dice really help makes some of the decision making for us.
And then we ended up off with some very cut throat Survive! Escape for Atlantis. At first, the players thought, it was as simple as just moving their units to the boat and heading to land but then once the land started disappearing and then whales, sea serpents and sharks started coming up, it was a full on war. 3 out of the 6 players didn’t even get any units off the island. It was my first time playing it and with 6 players, it is super chaotic but I still really enjoyed it. It was fun as ****.
Can’t wait to have another gaming night!
I have been at a gaming event, so I have played quite a few games;
-Vikings * 2
-Las Vegas
-Splendor * 3
-Geister, geister Schatzuchmeister
-spellcaster
-Forbidden Island
-Ricochet Robots
-Pandemic * 2
-Pandemic; the Cure
-Hanabi
-Sheriff of Nottingham
And Norwegian Championship in Qwirkle
I got to the finales in the Championship. Lost it, though. But very happy!! 😀
Of course, as Ignacy is here they decided to hold an Imperial Settlers tournament. A friend of mine managed to pull out the highest score even Ignacy had seen, a 146 in a 3-player game, which was 51 points more then I’ve ever seen before as well lapping both other players even before scoring for buildings.
