For the past couple of weeks we’ve posted other types of community discussion articles, but realized that many of you were missing the weekly “What are you playing this weekend?” article. So… it’s back! We will do our best to maintain this weekly tradition.
This weekend we’ll be playing two games soon to be released: Legend of the Five Rings – Emperor Edition and Thunderstone Advance. Stay tuned because we’ll be posting photos and our official reviews for them soon!
L5R-Emperor Edition will officially be released on February 27, and Thunderstone Advance on March 12!
I got to play Eminent Domain, Fits, Dominion, Pitchcar Mini, Blood Bowl: Team Manager at the con, and Carcassonne and Ascension: Storm of Souls tonight.
7 days of vacation + 4 jumbo Costco shopping bags full of games + 8 hours of game time in a day = 1 awesome Christmirthiversitine’s week.
Rather than buy gifts for each other for those four major holidays where it’s expected, the wife and I (and a pair of friends doing the same) decided to save all the money and rent a house and spend it relaxing and gaming. Yeah, it probably costs more than what we would have spent on gifts, but the memories should be much better.
So far, so good.
Well, the game night I hosted just finished up. We played Dominion, Settlers of Catan, and Dixit. The whole evening was loads of fun. Earlier this weekend I played a card game called Fantasy with my sister, which was fun, but we both agreed that it would be more enjoyable with at least three players.
@Morlimar
Dark Tower! What an awesome game. Oh, how that brings back memories. I’m envious that you still have a working copy. I remember once as a kid I had a dream where I got sucked into the game while playing it and had to fight brigands to get out. Fun times.
Playing Poo: The Card Game at a party tonight.
I am hoping to get Flashpoint Fire Rescue played this weekend with the kids. Family rules for now but I hope they enjoy it.
Then maybe some LOTR LCG solo trying out some new deck ideas.
Heroscape! Playtesting before next weekend’s tournament.
I’ll be playing A Few Acres of Snow and Thunderstone this weekend, but only online at Yukata.de. Feel free to look me up and invite me to a game! Maybe I’ll get some Ticket to Ride: India on the table too, its my new favorite game.
If I can find the time, I hope to really get into Ghost Stories — it just hasn’t clicked with me yet.
At Orcon and just played Olympus. Fun game that I would describe as 7 Wonders meets euro placement games.
Not sure what I am playing, but I am going to our second Topkon, a mini con here in Topeka. Both have been for helping out members with medical bills due to some sort of incident. This time it is to help my own family with my wife’s medical bills.
I am bringing a ton of games, because while we expect the local gamers to come out, we also have some non-gamers dropping by to support us, so I need to bring my gateway games in addition to my want to play games :).
Going to play the Star Trek DBG and perhaps some Looney Pyramids… I also have my vintage game of Dark Tower at the ready with some fresh D Batteries.
This weekend I will be playing “Ticket to Ride: Asia”, just bought it today.
Actually, I went to buy “Ticket to Ride Europe 1912”, but came home with “Asia”! You may ask why? Well, 6 players – that’s what I needed so much, cause there’s always 6 of us at home.
I’m new here so maybe “Asia” will be my first review.
I’ll be playing Magic: The Gathering (Commander format), and likely Dominion. Our friend who stays with us on weekends has been loving Dominion and we’ll likely bring it out again to pay with her.
Spending the weekend on the coast with friends, so gateway games will be in order…
Ticket to Ride, King of Tokyo, Dicetown, Coloretto, Fauna… and maybe some Cards Against Humanity. >:-)
From two different extremes …Ora Et Labora..Agricola..Washington’s War and Sekigahara
No idea as the guys I usually get in some games with haven’t been making a lot of announcements about what they’ll be bringing, but I’m thinking of taking Quariors, Dice Town, and Blood Bowl Team Manager.
I doubt that I will be playing any games this weekend as I have to work on both days.
Still, I have versions of Dominion and Carcassonne to play on my tablet whilst I wait for Ticket to Ride to appear for the Android platform.
Planning for an upcoming Heroscape tournament, so I hope to be testing out my army this week-end. I’ll also try to squeeze in one or two solo games of Lord of the Rings LCG.
Definitely going to be playing me some Summoner Wars. My wife is addicted to it right now! Add in some Puzzle Strike, Quarriors and maybe even teach my wife how to play Lord of the Rings LCG. If not, I may just run through some quests myself. Busy weekend indeed!
